We are both pretty adventurous eaters.
But.....DH is having lots of tummy problems , so extreme spices, red pepper and raw onions are a no-no.
AND-we really are not big buffet people-esp when the buffet line is chock-a-block with people.

Opinions, please?

We love Boma.

I even took my "meat and potatoes" son-in-law and he found plenty of food to eat. We have gone many times with lots of different friends and everybody always wants to go back.

We have always loved Boma both for breakfast and dinner.
The food has remained top notch and the best buffet on disney property.

The food shouldn't bother your hubby at all, as all the spice/and what level of spice comes from the sauces he can add to particular items if he chooses to do so.

The food is hearty like home cooking. Yes, there are some different things there, but nothing you won't recognize. Excellent salads, great meat offerings, sides and wonderful desserts.

Go and enjoy, I think you will be very pleased!

We all loved Boma, even picky DS11. :goodvibes

At the end of our trip we voted and decided we would rather eat in a more convenent location. YMMV

If we ever stay at AKL, we'll be back.

Experiences can vary just on the restaurants performance on a nightly basis. The foods vary but are mainstreamed so don't expect some strange cuisine. Durban spice is the aroma you will smell when you enter the AKL...maybe some saffron too.

Durban Spice Mix

9 Tablespoons Coriander
6 Tablespoons Paprika
6 Tablespoons Annatto Seeds
6 Tablespoons Salt
3 Tablespoons Cumin
3 Tablespoons Turmeric
1 Tablespoon Black Pepper
1 Tablespoon Cinnamon
1 Tablespoon Nutmeg
1 Tablespoon Cloves

You can expect to typically wait. The buffet line is adequate but is subject to the behaviors of guest who may do what they will with the foods on the line. We think there is a good selection and the food is slightly above average for Disney. Room is loud with the sounds of diners and some tables are close together but there are still some main isles allowing guest to make their way to and from the buffet line.

I really like Boma. They have a good variety of adventurous foods mixed in with some regular things that you would find on any buffet. You may be able to avoid huge lines at the buffet by making an early ADR.

The best buffet on property, for breakfast and dinner.

Food is not really "hot and spicy" but rather uniquely season...lots of cinnamony/cuminy flavors.

I have gotten frustrated before, in their buffet line. But I get frustrated in every buffet line I get in. It is worth it, though!

It's our favorite place for dinner. I've never encountered long lines at the buffet. A few folks ahead of us, no more than that. Mmmmm, I can't wait to go back!

Boma is great buffet, lots of different flavours you won't get any where else in WDW(except Jiko). Ask the Chefs if you have any food issues, I've seen them help many guests away from problem foods and a couple of times I've seen special dish being prepared without the problem items.

We were there for dinner recently and.........LOVED IT!! I personally think there is something there for most. My wife is not very big on trying new foods, yet still found plenty to eat.

Love it!

In fact, I'll be there tomorrow night! Woo hoo!

Glad to hear most people love it. It's on my list for Dec.

I do too. Wonder what Mrs. Ron hated.

Personally, we just did not like it. I think you will find either people love or hate this one. We seem to be the minority, but that is our opinion. Each to his own, and try everywhere at least once to decide for yourself.

We felt there was a large quantity but that did not mean quality to us. (Everytime I see pictures of people's food here it gives me horrible flashbacks! )There are few places in WDW we have decided not to return to, and this is one of those three.

To the OP, have a wonderful trip and happy planning. You know your family's taste best, choose what appeals to you.

Probably one of our favorite places to eat! We must plan at least one stop in BOMA with each trip down. Had my son's 9th Birthday celebration in there 5 years ago, and it was simply unforgetable! We still talk about it. I acutally get a little teary eyed thinking about that experience.

We love it! Its a favorite of all of us and #1 for Dh and my oldest DD. The food is not HOT spicy, just different spicy. Alot of it is very normal stuff, nothing tastes really odd, IMO. We love both b-fast and dinner. The ham and prime rib is awesome as are the desserts. Actually, everything is great, except for a couple soups I can do without.

Its a great place! :goodvibes

I am not big on buffets but I liked it more then any other buffet I had eaten. would I do it again, YES , going to go back in December to try the breakfast buffet now. :)

We LOVE it. Even my "chicken nugget" only child asks to go back every year. Not only is the food great, but we have NEVER been disappointed with the service we get there.
A couple of years ago our then 6 yr old DD caught a chill, her teeth were chattering, our waiter asked her if she wanted something warm and yummy to drink, she shook her head yes. A few minutes later he brought her out some hot chocolate. It was May. She told me this was the BEST hot chocolate she had ever had, I tasted it and she was right. It is YUMMY! I asked our waiter what kind it was, and he told me that the chef melted some chocolate and scalded milk for her. He had made her homemade hot chocolate. To me that was ABOVE and BEYOND.
Every year we eat there, and every year we are blown away how consistant they are with food and service. This is a MUST for our family.

Enjoy!
