Hiya

I am considering going to either boma or jiko on our upcoming trip, We have never been to the ak lodge before,

The only thing is dbf, is a steak kindaguy and does not seem to try much new things, will we be all right there.

What kinds of foods are we looking at

thanx anna

I know that Boma's has prime rib (at least I think it was prime rib...I personally don't like steak, so I didn't have any). I would give one of the them a shot. Dare to be a little different. We were all nervous before we ate there (our family of 5), and in the end, the only person who didn't like it all that much was my mom (she liked the meats offered, but was a little disappointed in the desserts and various salads).

You will be fine. Boma offers both a prime rib and a sirloin that is spiced with cardamom and coriander (depending on the night). The sirloin is so good that we make it at home - in fact, we are making it tonight for dinner!

The thing with Boma is the wonderful spices that they use to flavor the food. It's the same with Jiko.

I have been to Jiko once and had the filet with a cabarnet sauce and Mac and cheese. I think there was also a sirloin offering as well - the menu changes seasonally, but the filet is one of their signature items.

The filet at Jiko is our family fav! We cancelled our ADR at our traditional steak dinner LeCellier to go back to Jiko for more filet. I don't think the steak itself is seasoned with anything too adventerous, but the wine sauce is very rich and is made with South African wine, which has a very unique finish. The mac & cheese it's served on isn't run-of-the-mill mac & cheese, either.

There's a special on the Food Channel about Disney weddings, and Jiko is shown on it with the filet dish, as well as other dishes at Jiko. After we saw it, we decided to try Jiko...so glad we did :)

We didn't go to Jiko as we had two little ones with us, but we really liked Boma and we're planning on going back in Sep. My dh is the biggest pickiest eater I've ever known and there was a ton of stuff that he really enjoyed, including the prime rib mentioned. I love variety so I loved the buffet, but I imagine a menu is only as limiting as you allow it to be:)

I would recommend Jiko. It is our favorite place to eat at WDW. They have a great Beef Tenderloin that I'm sure your boyfriend would love. I had the Pork Tenderloin on our last trip and it was fantastic. We always start our dinners with one of there fantastic flatbreads. The AKL is so beautiful, make sure you give yourself time to explore the resort. Make sure to walk outside and see the animals. We stayed at AKL for the first time last year and we just loved it.

DH is also a meat and potatoes guy and we always stay at AKL. He tolerated BOMA by eating the prime rib and cutting off the outside rim since that seems to be where most of the spices are and he loves fruit and desert so he makes out ok. We tried Jiko on our last trip and suprisingly he seemed to enjoy it. He had the steak with the macaroni and cheese and asked for the wine sauce on the side which wasn't a problem. He cleaned up his plate so I guess it was good :sunny:
