I'd leave the park by 3:30 p.m. and you can wander around the Animal Kingdom lodge and grounds both before and after dinner. I think this is a great plan. You might even be done with everything you want to do in Animal Kingdom by then too and can really take your time, enjoy dinner, and the resort. The resturant is lovely. I don't remember views, but we could see animals when we walked around the grounds. And in the evening they hand out night seeing googles, have story tellers telling stories outside, etc. The lodge is beautiful too -- really spectacular. We've made Boma dinner reservations on three separate trips and went early each and stayed a while after dinner just because we really enjoy the lodge and grounds. (And Disney has standard fare that picky kids eat on the buffet just in case your child is a picky eater. This works out great when some in your party like to try new foods, as Boma caters to both groups.)
