OK, I'll admit it...I'm not the most adventurous eater when it comes to trying new types of food. DH is really looking forward to this dinner for our upcoming trip, but I need convincing. I've looked over the menu & some items look pretty tempting. Are the spices overwhelming or more subtle? Anything that I should definitely try?

Thanks in advance.

I think they are more on the subtle side. But to me it is alot of cinnamon type spicy-ness. Could could be very happy just eating the soups & desserts at boma.

Of all of the restaurants in the Animal Kingdom Lodge and Villas, it seems to be the most friendly to less adventurous eaters. I think you'll be fine.

i am definatly not a person to try new things, especially food. we had reservations in december for boma and i loved it. if all else fails there's the chicken and mac and cheese from the kids section. but the salads and soups were awesome. i think you will be fine.

My family is less adventurous than I and they all found things they enjoyed at Boma. I think the travel time to and from the AKL put a damper on the experience.

They don't want to go every trip, but it would go again in the future (or if we are staying at AKL) to make me happy :goodvibes

My absolute favorite restaurant at WDW. I usually have us going twice every time we're on vacation. The traveling to get there can be long (about 45 min - 1 hour - depending on where you're coming from) but we think it's worth it. My 9 year old doesn't usually like many things - but he absolutely loves the Fufu (sweet potato dish) and especially the butternut squash soup. In fact, sometimes they don't have the butternut squash soup (they usually have 5 soup selections and change them weekly) but my son now knows that he can just ask the waiter and they will bring him some (usually about 3 bowls) from the kitchen! :thumbsup2

I was on the fence about trying this one as well, I'm kind of adventurous but this seemed a little much for me. Since everyone so far has said it's pretty tame I might give it a try.

I am a very picky plain eater and I managed here fine. It's good.

There are plenty of options on the buffet for unadventurous eaters. I think the perception of Boma is inaccurate. The restaurant offers a variety of dishes with African flair and subtle spices, but it certainly is not authentic. The meat, poultry and fish likely won't seem too different to dishes you have ordered before.

As an adventurous eater myself, I love Boma for the appetizer and salad sections. That's the one part of the buffet I find particularly exotic. Otherwise, it's just standard stuff in slightly different clothing. I adore Boma. Definitely don't skip it because you're worried about not finding food to eat. I almost guarantee you will.

See I had the opposite experience....I am a fairly adventurous eater and I struggled to find something that I like at Boma. There are some things I won't eat (some but not alot) and most of those were in foods at Boma. Out of 15-20 things I put on my plate I liked maybe 2 or 3.

Us too. The seasonings for us, seemed pretty similar in a lot of the dishes. We didn't enjoy the spices, so we didn't enjoy a lot of the dishes. It definately had nothing to do with the food quality, and we didn't leave hungry...but the flavors just weren't for us.

I am sooo torn as well. I have an ADR for Boma but I am sooo afraid my DH will not enjoy it. He is a pretty "meat and potato" eater and is not into "specialty" food... and he doesn't eat salad or soups (except maybe chicken noodle)
I really want to try it but don't want me to be the only one to enjoy it.

I know the kids will be fine ( with the kids menu) but not too sure about DH.
What to do, what to do?!!

I have always been a little afraid to try Boma. We are staying at AKL for two nights in August and have made reservations here. I'm really looking forward to it now!! :goodvibes
