Is it worth going to? All of the meats look absolutely delicious but I'm a little nervous about the sides. I've never even heard of some of those side dishes. Are there any "semi-exotic" tasting sides? I'll give most things a try but for some reason, the word "african food" makes me a litle uneasy :) We booked it because we really want to visit the AKL, we hear great reviews about it on here, and the meats and zebra domes look really good. Do you think we should keep our ADR or go somewhere like WPC in DTD? Help:rotfl:

I would definitely keep it. I love Boma and feel like it has something to offer for everyone. The best part about a buffet is if you pick something and don't like it then you can just get up and try something else! I think you will probably find some side dishes you like as many of the spices are not too strong or overwhelming. If worst came to worst though, you could always get some plainer sides from the kids section.

Boma is the best buffet on property in my opinion. As far as the sides go, I tried most of them and let me just say - all were yummy. For instance, there was an side the was called FuFu or TuTu - it was orange with the consistency of a thick butternut squash soup. I tried it and it was sweet potatoes with some kind of spice in them, they were awesome. Also try the soups and it they have mulagatawny (sp?) try it. It is the best chicken soup with apples and curry that you'll ever have. The bottomline is that if you don't like it no harm no fowl. I also think that it is "Americanized" so that it really isn't as authentic as we think. I had the ribs last week and they were great. Buon Appetito.

Boma is perfect for the "Semi-adventurous eater".

It's too tame for the very adventurous eater or gourmet. It's too wild for the completely non adventerous eater.

Thanks for the input everyone! Looks like we'll have to give it a try!:goodvibes

I adore a lot of the sides at Boma. Especially the Watermelon Rind Salad (though it seems to be a love or hate thing), the assorted hummuses and the potatoes with Afritude. The spices aren't hot, but they tend to be a bit sweet to American palates (cinnamon and allspice).

Better than the sides, though, are the soups. I could eat nothing but soup and dessert there and be terrifically happy.

You'll have a great meal there!

I definitely agree with the food being on the sweeter side rather than spicy. We have been to Boma many times and the food has always been very good. My husband is rather a picky eater and he LOVES the food here. His favorite thing to get at Boma is the Bobotie. My son is an adventurous eater and he will try a bit of everything. :) He also loves the Bobotie, Fufu and the carrot ginger soup. There is something for everyone here.

We have been to boma everytime we go. We are booked for there this sat. I really like the bobotie and fufu. We have the recipes at home. They will give them to you. The dessert table is amazing. You have to try the zebra domes and the rum sauce. Mmmmmm good. Its not that expensive $28 a person best buffet at disney.

I love Boma, I have been there 3 times. Especially the seafood stew thing.

We didnt like it at all because most of the foods were sweet and flavored with cinnamon and vanilla and I dont like my entrees, sides, salads etc to be sweet...even the salad dressings were very sweet
