Would love to eat at Boma for dinner. It seems so far away...so was thinking of planning MVMCP on a rest day...do early 4 pm dinner there then head to the parks? or is that crazy? Any other ideas of where to eat or what to do early thta day...dinner? Dec 9th?

I could be wrong, but I don't think they open for dinner until 5. I've done a 5 pm Chef Mickey's before going to MVMCP with no problem, so I would think even a 5 pm Boma should be OK even though it's further away, however, it would be a problem if you want to meet the Seven Dwarfs, because you definitely need to get there well before 7 to get in line. I like to do Boma on my AK day, especially since they typically close at 5.

If you don't mind missing the advantage of entering the park around 4:00 with your party ticket then you should be OK. You will most likely get there closer to the 7:00 start. I personally would stick closer to MK for dinner. We've eaten an early dinner on our party nights at Liberty Tree Tavern and Crystal Palace. Outside of the park I would suggest something at any of the monorail resorts- or if you have park admission to for the day - consider a bigger lunch at one of the MK restaurants.
That being said...as long as you're good with an arrival time between 6 & 7 you should go for it! I hear Boma is very good- we can't wait to try it on our December trip!

I would not do it if you have any desire to meet Jack Skellington or the 7 Dwarves. To meet Jack Skellington, you want to get in line by 5 or 5:30, his line forms really early and stays really long. He came out at 6:15 for the last MVMCP. When we went to MNSSHP last month, he came out at 6:00. It looks like him coming out early is a pretty regular occurrence. His line gets huge. It is typically more than an hour wait for him at the Halloween party, and this is his first MVMCP dressed as Sandy Claws, so it will be just as long. We checked on the 7 dwarves line at 6:30 for MNSSHP and it was well over an hour long by then, so we skipped them. If either of those meet and greets are a priority for you, then you want to be at MK no later than 5.

Also if you want the party SOMK card, they start passing those out at 4:00 to people that have party bands. They only have a limited amount, and can run out before the party starts. You want to be there early to pick up one of those if that is important to you.

I believe Boma starts dinner at 4:30. You could expect to be done around 5:30. It can take quite a while to get from AK to MK. The bus waits at AK can be pretty long. Also, while it is only about 6 miles from AKL to MK, it can be about a 20 minute drive or even a little more with traffic. I would give yourself at least an hour to get from AKL to MK. If you are getting to MK between 6:30 and 7:00 p.m., then you will typically be stuck in some pretty good sized lines to get in the park and particularly to get your wristband. I don't think I would risk a dining reservation that far away from MK on an evening you are going to the party. I would not want to lose any party time. Even if Jack or the Dwarves are not a priority, if there is a character that is a priority, it would be good to get there and get in line before party start time, so you can get the first character out of the way quickly before the lines get longer. If you don't care about the characters at all, then it might work out for you, but I still don't think it would be my choice.

We typically do a big TS lunch on MVMCP or MNSSHP day and then grab CS for dinner. If you want a TS dinner, then I would suggest somewhere in or near MK. If you are doing a rest/non-park day that day, you might be ready to hit MK by 4:00 p.m. when your ticket kicks in anyway. You didn't say if you have kids, but my DD is not a fan at all of non-park days. She would drive us crazy all day begging to get into a park-so I would be more than ready to hit MK by 4! :)
