Boma for a meat/potatoes guy?

Absolutely...they have great spicy potatoes, a carving station and other meat dishes. He will find plenty to eat!

Thank you the the quick reply. Love your pic...would like to see a close-up of your veil. It's beautiful.

My husband is definitely a meat and potatoes guy. His body goes into shock if anything healthy enters it. We went to Boma five times in one year and he rolled out of there every time. It's worth the ride over there. Just make sure you leave plenty of time before or after dinner to enjoy the resort itself. The gift shop is one of the best onsite.

We took a party of 6 there last week. We split the experience about down the middle. The more adventurous loved the place, espcially the soups. There were so many things to try. I don't think I ate more than a bite or two of most things and found myself stuffed. Everything was so interesting. Our waiter joked that there used to be a dessert bar, but some guy just cleaned it out. Oh...that was you. (referring to my husband) :)
Then there was the other view. My MIL ate chicken fingers and desserts. My Dad ate some prime rib, but hated everything else. The menu mentions wood grilled meats and seafood, and I don't think it turned out to be exactly what he was expecting. Go with an open mind!

Definitely there are tons of meat/potato options at Boma! Enjoy! I agree with the above poster in having to keep your mind open. Those who love Boma are adventurous and willing to try new things. Enjoy!

My uber-picky meat and potatoes DH loved BOMA and has put it on his "must return" list for our next trip :)

This is a tough one to answer.

There's meat, and there's potatos, but there isn't the meat and potatos most people think of when they say meat and potatos.

That's why you get varying opinions from those with meat and potatos taste.

If you're looking for a place to take HIM, then you probably want to pick somewhere else. He might love it, but you'rre taking a bigger chance than normal that he won't.

If you want to go because it sounds great to you, but you're worried he won't like it, I'd go ahead and try it. Chances are he'll at least think its ok.

not your usual meat and potatoes BUT they have great prime rib, interesting sides, mac and cheese and good salads and soups...desserts are very good (tasty cookies, zebra domes, cobbler, etc) and the wine selection is also good.
the hotel is fun to walk around and the outdoor terrace has wonderful views of the animals (there are usually guides outside to tell you about the animals - they have binoculars you can use as well) and there is a firepit with rocking chairs ----
all in all, a very nice evening!!!!

In our family, I am the adventure eater, DW and DDs are strictly meat and potatoes. They LOVE the beef and potatoes with "Afritude". There are some slightly unusual spices on the dishes, but they love them. One could always get some food from the kids station too that have mac & cheese, and I believe chicken fingers. The salads and soups are really good, and for dessert, they have common things like chocolate chip cookies(which are excellent). Try it and enjoy.:earsboy:

My husband is a meat and potatoes kind of person and didn't care for Boma at all. Yes there are some foods that are kind of "OK" for people like him, but not a really nice selection. You kind of mainly say, yes, there's chicken fingers, prime rib and good desserts. My DH did not care for the potatoes, side dishes or soups at all. I think if you want to "try" it you should, but as suggested by someone else, if you want to be "certain" he likes it, don't pick Boma.

My husbands favorites are Artist Point, Grand Floridian Cafe and Wolfgang Puck Cafe.

Thank you for the honest assessment ... that is exactly why, even though we're staying at AKL, I have no intention of dining at Boma. It wouldn't be worth the money for me or my son.

Well, I do always say, the only way to really know is try, but I was just thinking about it this AM and we've tried a huge portion of the signature restaurants that are raved about and the only one that has stuck so far is Artist Point. Le Cellier is another, but I am not recommending it right now as I believe it's gone a bit down hill.

Anyway, if you looked at any of the ones in my list are his favorites and considering them, I should also mention Olivia's. It seems like I always recommend those 4 for everybody, but we've eaten at all meals, many times and they are all reasonably priced (except Artist Point), wonderful atmospheres, excellent service and rarely a meal we didn't care for.

Of course as with any restaurant there will be those that don't like these either. You just gotta get your info and go with an open mind, cuz you really never know.

When we went to Boma last year with some friends, my dh and I loved it and our friends didn't care for it. It really is a matter of personal prefference. You can't judge by someone elses opinions, because we all like differernt things. I will eventually try every restaurant at WDW, because so far, some of the ones that have traditionally gotten bad reviews here, have been some of my favorites. I just say go for it and hope for the best!
