I have read the reviews and looked at the menu for Boma...but I am looking for personal experiences.

My DH is definitely a meat and potatoes guy. He loves places like 50's Prime Time and Whispering Canyon. I would love to try Boma, but I am wondering whether there would be enough for him to eat.

I would love any input. Thanks.

Probably not. There is a huge variety but it IS different for the most part. If he likes WC (as a barometer) then I think Boma would be too 'different'.

I am a meat and potatoes gal and I have decided we are going to try it anyway. When are you going? If it is after me (PS for Boma on 11/30), I can let you know what I think.

My DH was worried a first but he was able to find more than enough to eat. They had Prime rib and pork loin at the carving station the day we were there. I don't remember any mashed potatoes but they did have a few other potato dishes. I am more willing to try a variey of things so I loved it. They had a great salad bar, assorted hummus and flat breads, and 3-4 kinds of soup (we both liked the chicken pepper pot soup). They had awesome desserts and we got the pressed pot of coffee to go with it.
I would definately give it a try.

I am a meat and potatoes guy, heck my father in law is a butcher...woohoo!!

And I loved bomas.......

DH is a plain jane type of eater too, but he is actually looking forward to Boma. I love to try different things, so no problem here. How is the kid's portion of the buffet? DD is extremely picky, so she might be the only problem. Regardless, I can't wait to try it!

They have some great chicken and beef at Boma. Sometimes it might have a little different spice to it than I am used to, but it's really pretty good. We are basically M&P people, too, but we love eating at Boma.

at Boma. There is always some high grade beef (prime rib, flank steak) that is incredible along with some good fish/chicken, etc. The food at Boma is unusual but very high quality and not too strange. It is our favorite at WDW!

Boma is our favorite restaurant at Disney -- probably our favorite restaurant in Florida. My husband, a meat and potatoes farm boy from Indiana, would do anything (clean house, watch the kids, etc.) to go to the Boma.

If he want meat and potatoes, he can fill up on prime rib and Afrikan spiced potatoes, and you can eat everything else. :)

I hope no one thinks I was dissing Boma as it is surely one of our favorite restaurants...But many posts on these boards from folks who consider themselves "picky" have bourne out negative reviews...

My opinion is always try it first then maybe you'll look at yourself differently when you're done!

DW and DDs are about as picky as they come(i.e. meat must not "touch" potatoes on the plate) and they love Boma:earsboy:

I am the biggest meat and potatoes woman on the planet and I love Boma. My only problem with them is the lack of "normal" potatoes as I am very sensitive to spices and the potatoes with afritude are too spicy for me. They do have normal french fries though (I just happen to not like fries). There is more than enough there for me to eat irregardless! The Prime Rib is delicious as is the flank steak, chicken, ribs, all of the meat that the have are wonderful. The salads are great and very varied and the desserts are absolutely to die for. My DS10 is very picky too and Boma is one of his faves too. He loves the hummus (which he only tried because our server brought it to the table and wouldn't bring him a refill on his soda until he did!!). My DH can't get enough of it and even has the flank steak recipe for us to try at home. He has to eat there at least once during out trip!! Make sure you arrive early and explore AKL as it is a beautiful place to visit.

Hey MarcyinFlorida - If you send your husband up here to clean, we'll take him to Boma on our next visit! :)

Chilis - My DS is a picky eater, too, but he always manages well at Boma. I think on our last trip the "kid" area of the buffet had spaghetti, mac & cheese, chicken nuggets and french fries. There's also fresh fruit and I think they had steamed carrots or corn. Add the bread offerings and the dessert choices, and I think your DD should manage nicely at Boma if she likes some of the usual "kid" food offerings..

Thanks for all the wonderful posts...it sounds like a place we need to try. With so many meat choices, I'm sure he will find something to his liking.

When we were there a few weeks ago they also had a wonderful baked salmon. I have a VERY picky DS13 and he loved Boma.

And you have to try the FuFu. It is delicious!

My family did not care for Boma, but we are glad we tried it. It is something every Disney fan should try at least once!
