I would like to go to Boma's with my DWs aunt and 2 cousins whom are all vegatarians. We have been plenty of times and really enjoy eating there. I really have not paid much attention to the vegatarian food, or at least enough attention to see if it had meat or not. Her aunt says her cousins are fairly picky. I know some people have had instances where the chef will come out with a special dish for them if they are vegatarians, or at least the chef will come out and go over what on the buffet does not include meat. My question is will her 2 cousins find enough to satisfy them other than the desserts? If not would it be possible to call the resturant in advance to making the PSs to see if they may be able to accomidate their picky taste buds?

Yes, yes, and yes!

Yes, they will find enough to eat on the buffet without special accomodation. Yes, the chef will prepare a special dish if requested. Yes, it is a good idea to call ahead and arrange for special dishes, etc.

Have you gone to or had your aunt go to http://www.wdwig.com and check out the menus?? They have them for each reastaurant including Boma

I am a picky vegetarian ADULT :) I find my life as a vegetarian adult would be much better if I like mushrooms & eggplant, since many restaurants use portabella mushrooms and eggplant for meat substitutes

DVC~OKW~96; Which phone number would one call to ask for a special request? also do you know what the age limits are for children?

WDW2002; I have been to her site quite often we use it quite a bit. The main problem is Boma changes their menu regularly, so there is no guarantee what they will have at the end of September. The last 2 times we have gone they have had the exact same items so that has been nice, but who knows about Sept.

At all you can eat place 11 & under are children 12 & older are considered adults.

I wouldn't attempt to use a universal WDW number (like WDW DINE) for special requests. I would use the resort's individual number and ask to speak with the restaurant's chef, manager or food expediter lead. The phone numbers of the resorts should be available through guest relations.

Have fun!

What exactly do you mean by "picky"? If it means they don't like any unusual tastes in their food, I would caution that when we were there three weeks ago, just about everything in Boma has curry of some sort, and much of it was spicy. Also, a lot of dishes have "weird" stuff in them -- manioc root, raisins, pine nuts, yams, etc. Don't get me wrong -- I loved Boma, as did my entire family, but I would never take my neice, who I consider to be a "picky" eater. I've known so-called vegetarian children who survive almost entirely on quesadillas, peanut butter and cheese sandwiches, so I know it is no guarantee that they have branched out into the wider, interesting world of international vegetables!

Peanut butter & cheese sandwiches yeww!! that sounds gross.

Also, IMO, if they are not eating meat, they are not "so called" vegetarians, they are vegetarians.

If they are picky eaters, they will be picky no matter where they eat & whether or not they are vegetarians! Boma's does offer some unusual foods so they might not enjoy it no matter what yo do. Why not give Deb Wills' menu to your cousins so that they will get a 'flavor' of what might be offered and see if they would like anything on the currect menu - this way you could see if you even want to go there with them. It really is a wonderful restaurant and you would hate to miss it or not enjoy it! I am allergic to dairy, fish, and seafood and when we went there, I just spoke to the chefs as I was checking out the food and they made me some special dishes which was great.
Also - if you going for dinner, they do offer chicken tenders and spaghetti - all kids tend to go for that!

Good luck!!

Not a vegetarian child :) ;) Neither of these items are vegetarian, the spagetti is with meatball (but I am sure you could get it with out) and chicken, well enough said on that one.

That is true- I replied without thinking about it - I was thinking about picky children in general. I still think she should have them look at the current menu & see if it offers anything that they would be interested in.
