Boma-Flavors Of Africa yes/no?

Jeez, am I going to be the first to say we did not like Boma?
I liked the atmosphere a lot.
Let me say that we are NOT picky eaters at all - and try new foods a lot, at home and at WDW. We did not enjoy Boma and will not return.
We had poor service that day we were there and I just did not care for the food.
Sorry to be the 1 negative!

It's a buffet so if you try something and don't like it, just leave it on your plate and go back up to try something else. If I had to choose one item off a menu, that would be a problem. It's wonderful to sample some of the African food!

:thumbsup2 YES! YES! YES! we visit every trip... the kids love it too! Some of the names sound a little crazy but try everything.... the squash soup.... yummy!!! :thumbsup2

YES!!!!
Loved it and we're going again in Oct. Food was really delicious, different and lots to choose from. Have a zebra dome for dessert...:thumbsup2

I'm excited about trying Boma now that I came upon this thread. I was just about to post the same thing!! I made my reservation today after the CM taking my reservations raved about it. We are not adventurous eaters so I'm a little nervous, but I think it will be a neat experience!:goodvibes

I am glad that I read so many positive reviews- we are trying Boma for first time in september. I want to go check out AKL also, wishing to stay there once.

I was surprised how much we liked Boma. I am a picky eater but I found so much there to eat. I love the spices they use. We didn't get to go on our last trip so we're looking forward to it on our next trip (with free dining no less!!). And the AKL is just beautiful. Make sure and take time before or after dinner to walk out and see the animals.

Yes, yes, absolutely yes.

If you had to pick one, I'd say dinner over breakfast... but breakfast is fabulous as well!! :thumbsup2

:earsboy:

I was thinking about Boma, then decided not too. Now reading this thread, I think we need to try it. Ugh! Now what to get rid of off my list of Adr's.

I'm suprised so many people here liked Boma. We were looking forward so much to eat at Boma, but we were disappointed. We are always up to try new food, but we did not like any of the food. The desserts were delicious though. A lot of people around us didn't look too happy with their meal either... So...no, sir, I dont like it.

My wife loves Boma's; I don't. I think my primary problem with is is that it is a buffet and often times the food is dried out or picked over. Some of the stuff is really good and certainly unique, but it's not on my I-want-to-go-back list. It may be just that I don't like buffets. I wouldn't miss the Crystal Palace, 1900 Park Fare or Chef Mickey's either. Visiting the AK lodge, however, makes going there worth it. What a fatastic place. To anyone going to AK lodge, make sure you take some time to walk around and check the place out.

I'm suprised so many people here liked Boma.

I'm not. If you check around varying sources, you'll see Boma gets a pretty high "Survey" approval %....usually hovering around 90%. So it doesn't surprise me the majority of posters here seem to like it, too.

Yes, like it very much. Even DS (10) can't wait to go back.

[/newman voice] Mulligatawny! [/end newman voice]

Boma rocks, the animal Kingdom lodge is amazing. It is like immersing yourself in a different world. So relaxing! We always get to our ressies early, go up the wood stairs to the bar and get one of thier awesome drinks, then go up to the main lobby and sit by the fire. It is wonderful!
Plus, Boma has potatoes with "Afri-tude" and they rock. My husband ate 7 zebra domes and he was sick last time but he maintains it was worth it.
 Boma

I also didn't care for Boma. My husband, on the other hand, raved about it.

All of the food seemed just slightly "off" to me. I understand it's a different cuisine than typical American fare, but I have pretty varied tastes and I couldn't find anything there that appealed to me on any level. I tried tiny portions of all the soups, the meats, the vegetable dishes, and I ended up filling up on zebra domes just so I felt like I got my money's worth!

Boma is a must for us every trip. Great food great atmosphere. My son (2) loved everything we put on his plate. The waiter sang African songs to the baby. Just overall a great meal. We went twice last year and will return this trip. Try it most people love the place. The chicken is to die for along with the coconut flan type dessert. Check the menu it does change. One menu us M-w-f the other is t-thurs- sat or something like that.:thumbsup2

So what's the main difference in Boma for breakfast and Boma for dinner? We booked it for breakfast on our next to last day- I figured since I don't know if the food is good, what does it hurt if we do breakfast instead of dinner?
