We are a group of 9, 5 children ranging from 3-12. We thought we would take a few hours to check out the resort during our ten day trip in August. I have reservations 10:55 Boma, or 12:10 Sanaa. Which would you keep? We plan on 8 AM AK morning.
Have you been to either? I like both and for me it would just be a matter of whether I felt like breakfast food or lunch.
For your situation though, I think I'd lean toward Sanaa. With such a large group, it may be more relaxing to have a regular sit-down meal instead of a buffet. Depending on where you're seated, you might be able to see animals while you eat (though even if you aren't near a window during lunch, you will have plenty of indoor and outdoor viewing areas available before or after lunch). It would also give you a little more time at AK in the morning.
What are your plans at AK? That would help determine which meal. Also, we plan on late morning 10:30amish breakfasts but that's because we just woke up You might want to plan on a lunch if you're going to be up at the crack of dawn and going to a park beforehand. Enjoy AKL! It's a beautiful resort!
Does the lunch menu at Saana look like something the 5 kids would eat?
I think Saana fits a bit better in the schedule, and I would personally enjoy it...but I'm not sure my kids would think the same.
Just jumping on this thread. How long does it take to get to Saana from AK? Made a booking for dinner in October, but I'm thinking it may be dark and won't see the animals, so thinking maybe a lunch, but I wouldn't want to be taking up too much time getting to and from Saana. Whereas dinner would be after we'd be finished in park.
My DD14 and I would choose Sanaa. She typically only eats the bread service and a dessert (and leaves full and happy). I like their butter chicken (I get the kids portion so I can enjoy the bread service and dessert, too). We tried breakfast at Boma last summer and I wasn't a big fan. I tried a little bit of just about everything and didn't like most of it.
I also like that you can see animals at Sanaa. It's true you might not be seated by the windows, but I'm always more than happy to let people squeeze by my table to take pics (in small doses of course - don't have your entire party head over there at the same time). It's very relaxing at Sanaa, but very loud and crazy every time I've been at Boma.
These are probably my two favorite meals at WDW, so I would have a hard time choosing! I agree with a previous poster who pointed out that a party your size might find Sanaa to be more relaxed because it isn't a buffet.
Two very different experiences. Sanaa is a wonderful experience when you can sit and look out on a savannah. The food is African flavors and is quite good. They do have a kid's meal section. Boma is excellent too............a bit less exotic for me......but very good. I'm am curious about your plan for the day beginning at 8am at AK..............how would either of your reservations work given that? Doesn't seem like you've got a lot of morning time at AK if you have to get back to AKL or AKV for those meals. In the end I'd go with Sanaa!
I agree that these are two of our favorite restaurants. We like eating breakfast foods and absolutely love Boma. Our favorite breakfast on property. But we love Sanaa also. When we go to AK we start with breakfast at Boma and then head to AK. We usually eat dinner at Sanaa or eat there when we have a day not at the parks. If you are going to AK first I would probably leave for lunch because of the timing. You can't go wrong with either.
I would do the Sanaa lunch! You will have more time in AK in the morning and not only does Sanaa have great food, but you will have a good chance of seeing the animals walk by the windows during lunchtime.
My Sanaa lunch a few weeks ago was honestly one of the best meals I've ever had in Disney, plus you can see the animals graze through the windows. Great food, service, and ambiance.
Of course the Boma breakfast buffet is basically the best one on property as well...so yeah...hard to choose.
This ADR would be day 7 of my ten day trip, a day we are not over planning. We have several AK days planned, so I am not too worried about how much time we will get in AK. We may go back after the meal, or back to Polly to swim. My nephews ages 3,5, and 9 are not very good at sitting through meals, so my theory was buffet would give them a chance to get up and move during. Is Sansa in a good place to explore the resort? I thought it was not in the main building.
