Hi! I'm going this month! I'm curious about vegetarians at boma. I don't eat any meat fish or seafood. I do eat dairy and eggs. We're going on a tuesday and I saw the 'rotation' for tuesdays and I just want to know since some things have names that aren't familiar, which things are actually meatless. Also, i saw that the butternut squash soup is on a tuesday, is this meat free?! I hope so! Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

I am also a vegetarian and I love eating at Boma. Tell your server you are a vegetarian and either he/she will help you to identify the items you can eat or will arrange for one of the chefs to help you out. I'm always on the look out for protein (since too many restaurant's idea of a vegetarian dish is pasta with a few steamed veggies on top) and Boma offers things like three different varieties of hummus, falafel, various dishes containing beans and rice, and I've read about a tofu and green bean dish but haven't been there on a night when that was served. There are lots of vegetables and tasty salads and almost all of the salads were meat free.

I was told by one of the chefs that they always offer a vegetarian soup every evening. The trouble is, they usually have 3 or 4 soups at dinner and they don't indicate which one is the vegetarian one so just ask one of the folks behind the counter. I did try the Butternut Squash soup a few weeks ago without asking first if it was vegetarian (I think I decided by process of elimination that it is vegetarian, i.e., the other soups either contained meat or fish or looked like they were made with chicken or beef stock). A lot of people on these boards have raved about it but it was way too rich for me. It tasted like, and had the consistency of, unbaked pumpkin pie mixture or melted ice cream -- it would have been OK as a dessert but was much too rich for me to eat as part of the main meal. Fortunately I had taken just a small amount of it just to try it, so I didn't feel guilty that I didn't eat more than one spoonful of it!

I don't remember specifics, except that there was a teriffic soup that was vegitarian, but I do remember I got full before I tried all the meatless choices (so I ended up stuffed). This was one of the only buffets I felt we got our money's worth. DH is a strict vegitarian and I will only eat fish. Plus my son has food allergies, and the chef made him a special meal! Try the watermelon rind, yummy. The chefs will walk the buffet with you and point out what has 'hidden' meat in it.

My best advice is to talk to the chef at every table service place you eat at. We went to Coral Reef and the vegitarian plate did not appeal to us at all, so we asked if there was anything else they could make. The chef smiled and said he was great at omelettes- so we went for it- OMG it was amazing. My advice is to always go with anything a chef says he is great at :flower: . I wrote down his name but lost it, we wanted to send him a thank-you, he had the Disney magic :wizard:

I haven't ate there yet, but from what I've heard the chef and wait staff are very accomidating (?). :)

We took my DS there last year who eats dairy but no meat or fish. I eat fish and DH will eat fish, chicken and turkey. There was plenty for all of us. The wait staff was very helpful in explaining the options to us. I love Boma and would highly recommend it to vegetarians.

DH and I are veggies and *love* Boma! There is a huge variety there for vegetarians of all kinds. In fact, when you get there to up to the buffet and ask someone to walk you around to the selections that are okay for you to eat. They will explain everything to you. They did this for us and were super nice and accomodating.

I'm not vegetarian, but the meats are not the main draw for me here.

The butternut squash soup is meatless. They do have a nice variety of soups.

Also, the green beans w/ tofu in a coconut milk & red curry sauce is fabulous! They also have tabouli, hummus, etc. I think you'll probably find a nice variety of meatless dishes.

I'm not a vegetarian but I keep kosher so I only eat vegetarian food or fish... I stayed at AKL in 2001 so I don't remember specifics but I do remember food not being a problem :) in fact one place food is almost never a problem for me is Disney!!

now I'm on Atkins... and kosher... wish me luck on my upcoming trip!!
