I received two bogus emails form someone claiming to be Paypal stating that a new email account was added to my account.

If you receive anything like this DO NOT reply to it and DO NOT click on any on the links.

Forward the email to spoof@paypal.com and then delete the email.I talked to a human being at paypal and they said that any email they send will have your first and last name in it. This did not and I am glad I found it so fast.

I am a nervous wreck right now because I am (was) one of those that thought it would never happen to me!!

I get those a lot. At an email address which I have never used for Pay Pal or ebay. Plus, I don't have a pay pal account any more. Don't worry about it, they didn't send the email to you personally, they sent it to every address thier compuster could make up. Sending it to the soppf address is a good idea, because it allows ebay to track the IP Address and sometimes they get lucky enough to catch the person or persons sending them out.

"They" don't know anything about you, there is no way for them to know if they have his a good address or not, unless the ISP bounces the message back. Just reports, delete and if you are really concerned, change you user password. It is actually a good idea to change your passwords every 60 days, and make them all different and wierd. It is a PITA, but keep them written down in a little journal, and you will be fine.

***CAUTION**** !!!!

I mentioned this on a thread over on the BB board.. In the past 10 days or so I have received numerous "scam" emails from people claiming to be from eBay, Paypal, or AOL..

One of these emails had my FULL name - first and last !! It still didn't look right though so I forwarded it as "spoof" and sure enough, it was verified to be a SCAM !! The only problem is I can't remember which scam it was - eBay, Paypal or AOL..

So do NOT assume if they address you with your first and last name that it's legitimate - mine was NOT !!! Thank goodness I was careful enough not to fall for it..

it was a paypal notice stating that I had just been paid $212 for a set of baseball cards I sold on ebay...couple of problems with that...I don't sell under my name on ebay..we use husbands name for paypal..and we didn't have anything for sale!..it was also a bogus hotmail address..if you get anything like these..forward them with FULL HEADERS ATTACHED..this is important as it helps them find out where the emails are originating!
