Hi folks, I know at least one of you will know the answers for this...
We are in Fl last week of Sept/first week of Oct. Want to do the boggy creek airboat thing.
!, Any particular day of the week better than others and why?
2, Mosquito situation? will it be too bad?
3, Any tips?
4, morning or afternoon preferred?
thanks loads

I know people who have been on 2 occassions and loved it, the driver's are really helpful and will always answer your questions.

My friends said the Mosquito's were not so bad at all but do recommend you have some protection on for them.

I know they went in Summer once and said that it was best to go at night because the Reptiles etc come out having sheltered from the heat during the day.
However, I have also heard that first thing in the morning is also a good time whilst it is still fairly cool.

What is certain is that it's best to go midweek as at weekend it gets pretty busy, and often the number of boats keeps all the 'creatures' away. :scared1:

Thanks Johnny, there, see? I knew somebody'd know :)

Drove across the Everglades at night once, many years ago - still itching now - a pitch black road, and eyes in the bushes everywhere....

:rotfl2: The mozzie bit does not appeal for Callums sake, but I do think the 'eyes' would be rather fun

:) - I think morning may be best for you Carol, certainly from a 'mozzie' point of view.

Thanks Johnny will bear that in mind

Ha ha - sorry Carol not stealing your thread here hopefully but one tip, never drive from Naples to Miami at night using the 'Tamiami Trail' road, it's pitch black , little traffic but insects and creatures aplenty :sad2: ...use the 'Alligator Alley' instead...despite the name it's a proper highway and much better.

A couple of years ago DH and myself did a night time safari excursion .

Food and drink was provided, there was native indian dancing, a talk bout alligators but the highlight was a half an hour night time airboat ride. We had repellent on and they also made sure we used some of theres.

The only thing you had to watch out for was not opening your mouth!!! :lmao:

We saw loads of gators , and being on the water in just the moonlight ( boats had big search lights on) was really good
:woohoo:

Hi Carol
We went to Boggy Creek last trip to Florida ,we went in the morning of a week day, dont remember any mosquitos ,it was a good trip saw loads of wildlife but no alligators im afraid although friends of ours went and they saw a few. The guide was very good and it was a good laugh !!

Boggy Creek is the most popular airboat rides in the area. I have been many times and I prefer to go in the morning before it gets too hot. The mosquitos aren't as bad as you'd think. The basic rides last half an hour and run around 20.00 a person. You can find discount coupons everywhere though.

Carol, we are trying this in April and they offer a discount to TA's so make sure you take your business cards.

Thanks Helen, will try to remember that! :thumbsup2
