BOG no credit card?

I just got off the phone with a CM, after making a reservation through the automated system without a credit card. She said they were just advised that reservations made this way will NOT be cancelled - the reservations are confirmed.

Did you hold the reservation with a cc anyway?

No, the CM read an internal email to me, which instructed CMs that they no longer needed to transfer guests to the Dining Help Line. She read the entire memo, which said reservations will NOT be cancelled, and said she couldn't take a credit card anyway. NOW I'm worried!

I just called at 230, and she took a CC. Said that a bunch will be cancelled tonight. Must have just changed it.

I just called at 4:45 to add my cc to my ressie that was made this morning. I told the CM that I was aware that the ressie required a cc and had heard that all ressies without one on file would be cancelled at 12am. She informed me that they just received word that they are not cancelling the already made ressies without cc on file. It was at fault of the automated system, and there were so many people who reserved without a cc that it was nearly impossible to fix. They are taking ressies with cc from earlier today on, however the one's made without the cc with automated system are fine. I asked her multiple times if she was certain and she garunteed that she was.

Now, we find out, AFTER what I went through waiting on the phone to add my CC# :rolleyes1
I think they realized just how many more people had to call in to add their cc#'s as they found out, and saw what an additional work-load that was going to be for them  Not to mention the ones that would have been upset through no fault of their own :confused3

What about the ones that NEVER found out and show up for their ressies "on time" and with their conf. #??? Don't think they would be ready for all that anger either :furious:

They COULD have made this decision earlier though. They would have known exactly how many people were in this category. It would have saved me the time and anguish of calling back to add it. :sad2:

I know they are not taking ressie's online yet. But now that we have a confirmation number couldn't you just pull the ressie up online via a confirmation nUmber search and add the cc info there? If you wanted to. I manage my ressie's online all the time.

I heard the same that you'd be fine if you didn't initially book with a CC#, but I went ahead and called anyway just to be safe, since this is my anniversary dinner I wanted. and when I FINALLY got through to a CM to add my credit card number, he took it and added it and asked the normal stuff about celebrations and stuff, but never once mentioned I didn't need to add it or anything.

It is 5:43 pm eastern time and I just talked to a CM and she informed me that no reservations will be cancelled. All reservations made thru the automated system are safe. She didn't take my card, but did put my email address on my reservation, and I have checked and my BOG is on my reservation page.
All is well.
:cool1:

Add me to the list of those who did it via automated system with no cc hold. Thanks to the boards when it did this I pressed 0 for an operator and she also read me the email stating it would not be cancelled without a cc#. I figure I will wing it and if I can still pull up the ressie in the morning on Disney's web-site I will take it that we are meant to eat there and if not oh well.

Ok. Do I logged in online. I then retrieved my reservations. Unfortunately, when you choose EDIT. You can not really edit anything. So you can not add the CC # online. Or fix my first name the automated line messed up. BUT I logged out and back in and when I choose My Reservations the Be Our Guest ressie's were still showing under my account. So that was good ... I thought?

Same here, I made my ressie this morning using the automated system and no CC required. I got home read the boards and freaked. I've called twice to try to add my CC and both Cm's told me they can't add it and that it was not required for ressies made today since they knew there was an issue with the system. They both assured me my ressie was confirmed. I did link it to my resort ressie and it is showing up so... I REALLY hope it is ok. Still panicing though, lol:lmao:

I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out to be true. While the cancellations may have been true how it normally works and as of this morning, Disney is aware of this issue. So they have two choices. Let the system work as usual and cancel all the reservations of many people who have a confirmation number and have no idea their reservations will be cancelled. (Now picture the havoc this will cause at the restaurant when people show up). OR, they can figure out a work around for reservations made today to prevent them from getting cancelled.

I was actually very suprised when I heard they'd be cancelled. This seemed to be a situation that just screamed out for Disney to figure out a way around it.

For me personally - I'd rather them get cancelled so I can get a shot at making them tomorrow morning but boy, will there be problems down the road for Disney if they do . . .

I am nervous about my ressie being canceled and will be much happier once I can find a CM to add my CC to it (two told me they can't but it is confirmed). And I will admit if I wake up tomorrow with no ressie, OMG, Disney might cancel my trip because I am going to be PISSED and I will let them know. Imagine all the people that don't post and have no clue? WOW, that is going to be UGLY!!!!

I made a BOG reservation yesterday using the automated system and no cc. I checked it this morning and it is still there. hooray:woohoo:I did not have time to call yesteray and add the cc. Glad to know Disney did not cancel all reservations without a cc.

Nope.

I've pulled up this (and others) via there system. While you can view the detail on the ressie...you can't modify them. And, looking through the batch of ADR's I have now for our December trip...not one of them actually LISTS anything related to the CC we used to secure them (if necessary).

Now, that's not to say they couldn't put something in place to do it...but it's not there now.

In addition to all that....phone lines were still jammed through about 4 PM last night (and maybe later...that's just the last time I checked). There were people who LITERALLY started trying to call at 7 AM yesterday and still had not gotten through at 4 PM. Trying to call and add a CC before the midnight "deadline" (which, since they close at 10 PM...was really 10) might have proven difficult, at best.

Be Our Guest Update - August 21st 8am: Walt Disney World Reports:

Disney Dining is still experiencing heavy call volume today. Expect longer than average wait times. Except for Be Our Guest, which opens online booking 8/22, you can make ressies online to save time.

If you made a reservation on Monday, August 20 for Be Our Guest, Disney is staying as long as you have a reservation number, it is a valid reservation. If you dd not leave a credit card on August 20th, your reservation will NOT be cancelled

If you tried to call and cancel a different dining reservation yesterday so you wouldn't be charged the no show fee, you will not be charged. This applies to dining reservations through 8/22.

Dang I was hoping for canceled ressies today to try and steal one for my dates.:stir: Yo-ho yo-ho a pirates life for me.

They were still having like 20+ minute waits last night when I called at 9:40pm to add allergies to my reservation, thinking that that late there wouldn't be a wait. I have no idea how accurate it was though, because I was not about to sit on the phone that long once again that late :rotfl:
