I have snagged a BOG lunch reservation for May-thank you touring plan reservation finder! I got one for four people, although we are a party of 7, I figure I can take my three girls and make it a girls lunch and the boys can do something else (unless the reservation finder locates one for all of us). My girls are 13, 7 and 4, and this lunch is for our 13 year old (all because of the new movie). I took a quick look at the menus and suspect she will find something, but the kids menu has not much my younger two would enjoy. I would love to say they would have a lunch of shrimp or mickey shaped meatloaf, but realistically none of the options would likely appeal. So, do I order them a lunch anyway so they can come, or can I order them French fries and a drink or dessert and feed them their 'real' lunch after? Is that an issue? They actually are decent eaters and like fruit and veggies and such, but not so big on sauces and bigger lunches (more snack kind of stuff is what they are used to). Thoughts? Do I have to order full meals for all?

When we ate dinner there my picky eater son had French fries for dinner and that is it. It wasn't a problem at all.
Enjoy!

You can order whatever you like. At any meal. Also, I'd see about getting two reservations one for 4 one for 3. At lunch you should easily be able to find two tables together or one of the big rounds that seats 6-8.

We were having dinner one trip, and sat next to a young girl in her Make a Wish trip. The gentleman with her said he was having one of EVERY SINGLE DESSERT. and that was his dinner. Because he could! And he did.
There aren't any restrictions on what you do or do not order.
Cupcakes for everyone!!!! :cheer2:

Awesome thank you! I imagine they will be dining on French fries and cupcakes lol! Just wanted to be sure it wasn't frowned upon or something for taking up space and not ordering big meals.

Love the story of the guy ordering one of every dessert!

the grilled cheese and soup also comes with a side so you could get fries with it. Pretty agreeable to most kids, that's what I'm getting for my 2 and 4 year olds in a few weeks.

I'm getting my son the turkey sandwich (18 months)...seems like a pretty unoffensive choice to me. My husband has had the pasta before. I took a bite, it was good. The poster above mentioned grilled cheese. I have to admit I have a hard time grasping why people can't find anything for their kids to eat there.

Not everyone likes the same things. My kids aren't really big sandwich eaters, and would probably eat the pasta without the marinara sauce (they prefer alfredo) in a pinch, but that isn't really enough for them for lunch on its own. I didn't say the food was 'offensive' just not consistent with my kids typical lunch fare and I don't really want to spend $ on food that will not be eaten. I just wondered whether I needed to order a full lunch for them or not. I have five children, they are all different, and all different eaters (and if I was taking my boys, it would be completely different), so just wanted to know my options. I find the more parenting experience I have, the less of an expert I am, because just when you think, my kid will never be a picky eater (or sleep in my bed or still potty training at 3, or whatever!) they prove you wrong lol!

Right, not everyone likes the same thing. BOG has one of the biggest varieties of kids menus on property. If your kids don't want the sandwich or the pasta, they also have turkey meatloaf, shrimp, and pork. And they still have the good old grilled cheese. Seems like they've attempted to cater to everyone. If your kids can't find something they like there, are they going to find something they like anyplace?

I am not their mother, but I believe that her children will not starve to death whilst vacationing at Disney. (OP, if I am wrong please correct me.) They just don't like the BOG menu. Her kids will eat fries and cupcakes there. It's not that big of a deal. In fact, if I still had the metabolism I had in my younger days, a lunch of fries and cupcakes would be right up my alley:)

I tried to be that good mom and ordered DS ( then about 7) the turkey sandwich. He ate fries and cupcakes . Order what your kids will eat!

I am honestly not sure why it bothers you what my children will or will not eat, and my question wasn't about that-I simply wanted to know if I could feed them the bulk of their lunch before or after and take them to BOG for a treat, given they wouldn't really eat the choices served there-in reality their lunches are generally much healthier than any of these options and one of the challenges for my 7 year old is that she is a big fruit/cut up veggie eater at lunch, and for whatever weird reason, isn't into carbs a whole lot-I think it is crazy, I could eat them all day long! I typically bring our lunches with us, and we will buy our treats at the parks and we go out for TS dinners. I am not complaining about the menu, and totally accept it is my kids, not the menu-but I would hold off on the judgment as you never know what parenting is going to bring your way!

I appreciate your comments so much! They totally will not starve, and actually eat really well and healthy for the most part. BOG is a treat and I just wanted to be sure we could use it for a treat and not feel obligated to buy a meal they won't eat. Wanted to be sure we wouldn't be in trouble for taking up a table and not having an individual meal for each one. Now my 13 year old, she can't decide on what she wants from all the adult choices. Thanks again for your support-parenting is full of lots of challenges and it is always awesome to find other parents that have your back.

I'm not bothered, nor was I judging. Notice I ever said that kids should or shouldn't eat any particular thing. I was providing information from the menu. I wasn't sure if you were aware of the large variety of things they have there.

You've said now that your 7 year old doesn't like carbs. So, I'm guessing she probably won't want the fries? You could ask if they'd be willing to give her a side of green beans or applesauce instead. The worst they can say is no.

BOG at lunch is a quick service restaurant. You order anything you want and they will deliver it to your table. Not a big deal.

You might be able to order the turkey meatloaf side dish only - you could probably ask for the dip to be included with the broccoli and zucchini. It won't be the strangest order they've ever gotten and it's right off the menu, so likely very doable...It will also give them something to keep their attention while you and your oldest eat (especially the youngest one)...it will likely be priced somewhere around an order of fries...or you could ask for it as the whole meal and ask to sub out the meatloaf for a double order of veg and get the included drink with it and split between the 2 youngest...

Worst they can say is no...and if you order something already on menu, just with less on the plate, you'll almost always get a yes...

It's Disney and it's vacation! Believe me if I could eat fries and cupcakes and the like for every meal I would! But I get fat typing the desire to eat only that!
You get you kids what they are actually going eat. Not a $15 meal that will go in the garbage. And a kid that is still hungry.
Get your kids TWO cupcakes. And extra ketchup for their fries! Corn syrup and everything!! We were always pretty loose with what my kids wanted to eat while in vacation. I'm lucky they aren't picky, but if they'd wanted fries and damn cupcake for lunch at Disney? I wouldn't hesitate.
School lunch? Probably more balanced.
