BoG lunch or dinner?

Hello all I know the differences between BoG lunch vs. dinner (QS vs. TS, etc) but just wondering, for those who have eaten both lunch and dinner at BoG, which did you prefer and why?

Note: family of 4 with 2 teens (seeing the Beast isn't a perk for us) but the atmosphere/seeing the castle and good food are our priorities.

Lunch is sandwichy kind of menu. So this is really about sitting in the restaurant.

Dinner is (mostly) a plate of hot food. Maybe the 'best' hot meal in Magic Kingdom (which is not saying much).

Also at dinner, you get a photo opportunity with The Beast.

Has anyone tried the strip steak with pommes frites at dinner? Or the french dip or turkey baguette at lunch?
Is lunch QS more busy and stressful? I know we can mobile order, but just want to relax and enjoy atmosphere. Also, wine at dinner might be nice since that is the only place that serves alcohol in MK, right? Comparing menus, dinner will be twice as much as lunch...so, in your opinion, is dinner worth it? Happy to pay the difference if dinner is the better option

We booked the lunch because we like the ambiance of being in the castle but weren’t overly impressed with the breakfast on our last trip. I wasn’t able to score a dinner adr but I’m going to keep trying for a cancellation.

You can pre-order at BoG lunch, but it's not exactly the same as mobile ordering. Can't speak for dinner as we only did lunch, and pre-ordering did save us some time. It was pretty hectic finding a seat as it was crowded, but once we found a seat (in the WW), it's not like they were trying to rush you out. Take your time and enjoy your food and atmosphere.

Once you have your BoG ADR for lunch, you can go into your MDE and next to the reservation, there should be an option to pre-order. Click on that and the menu pops up, and you can choose what you like and add it to your cart. You don't pay until you are seated and have received your food at the castle though, and you can make changes at any time beforehand until the moment you check in at the castle entrance. Keep in mind there is no AP discount for BoG lunch (we found out at the time since we didn't know).

Mobile ordering only works at a couple select restaurants throughout the 4 parks. As long as you have a cc on file in your MDE, you can pre-order and pay for your meal, and once you are in range of the restaurant, you can click I'm here, and in a few minutes they will let you know your order is ready and you just walk up to the mobile ordering window and grab it and go. We walked past at least 15-25 people waiting in the regular line every time we used it, they all looked at us like "what the heck??? How are they getting their food already?". Saves a TON of time if it is busy, since a lot of people apparently don't know about it yet. You can't get AP discounts or use the dining plan with that yet either, so that might be why it isn't popular yet.

Lunch used to be good back when it first opened and the sandwiches were served warm. Since the menu hasn’t changed and the sandwiches have only gone down hill (quality of the steak sandwich declined) we prefer dinner.

My teen loves the steak at dinner. He said it’s the best steak he’s had in Disney. The Husband loved the lamb chops and I was quite impressed with the scallops & shrimp pasta dish.

The desserts at dinner could be improved. I doubt castles in France end a meal with a cupcake

We just had the steak on Friday night and it was delicious. Perfectly cooked, tender and great with the garlic aioli.

BOG gets a bad rap for dinner, IMO. Is it the nicest restaurant in WDW? Certainly not, but the food is great and the experience of eating in Beast's Castle and the Beast meet and greet makes it a must-do for dinner IMO.

Of course you must try the grey stuff. Other than that, none of the cupcakes are anything to talk about. We always get a strawberry and lemon. Those are our favorites.

For lunch, you can select your room. Dinner you can’t, but after your meal you can walk around the restaurant and take photos. My younger son loves the west wing with the rose. I find it very dark and difficult to read the menu in there. We’ve dined in the music box room the most often. It’s very pretty. We’ve never sat in the main ballroom.

It’s a meal my whole family enjoys. My teenage son requested it for his birthday meal next week.

I believe they do. My friend had it on her birthday and raved about it.

Other than that, none of the cupcakes are anything to talk about.

Oh man, I disagree! The chocolate cupcake is excellent, especially the ganache part of it. Soooo good.

That was too rich for my tastes. Way too chocolately.

I wish they would have other French desserts. They need to change it up.

We ate there for lunch two years ago. I had the turkey sandwich and it was fine. I’m kind of picky so I only had turkey on my sandwich so it was a little dry. I thought it was strange to come with fries but they were still good. The strawberry cupcake was absolutely delicious! We are eating there at the beginning of March for lunch because we want to use our qs there and our ts for dinner at cinderellas Royal table.

We've done both several times. I agree with the poster who said lunch went downhill when they stopped warming the sandwiches. It's probably still one of the better quick service options, but the menu changes have knocked it down a peg for me. The dinners we've had though have been excellent. I LOVE their dinner rolls to start with but the last two times we ate here I had their pork loin and it was so incredible. Melt in your mouth tender and delicious and with really great flavors. The last one had a cauliflower puree and pickled turnips with a little spinach on the side and some sort of cherry sauce. I wasn't thrilled with the menu change as I loved the macaroni au gratin but it really surprised me and I thought it was delicious!

The only thing I will say is that the desserts have never impressed me here. They are okay but nothing amazing. We've had some awesome servers at dinner time as well.

Lunch. Each thing we have tried has been good. QSDP is a good value here.

Dinner .......... really nothing different than lunch other than a beast & blah a menu and the person takes our order than than me order on my phone. Rooms the same, tables the same, crowds the same, noise the same, desserts basically the same (which irks me for the DDP I expect better value), food delivery the same, still people walking all around taking pictures .......feels nothing like a TS ................ why pay more for nothing much different.

And if I'm in a park at night, I want to enjoy the park ... I'd rather spend my table time midday.
