Hi! We will be in Disney for my daughter's 5th bday and we are planning the ultimate princess day for the day of her bday. We plan on starting our day with a BBB reservation and a late bfast at CRT. We originally were not going to have Park Hoppers so planned to just stick to MK that day and were going to do dinner at BOG since it's also a castle and I thought it fit with our princess theme. Well we now have PH since we had to upgrade those to get FD so our options have opened up a bit. Now I'm considering maybe hopping over to Epcot later in the day since MK closes at 7 on that day and there's EMH at Epcot until 11:30. So would Akershus be a better option for dinner for us to carry on her princess themed bday? Or would you stick with BOG? Which one is better? We've only eaten at BOG for lunch a few years ago and I wasn't that impressed and we've never eaten at Akershus. I'm a little worried about the food choices at Akershus since we've never really eaten Norwegian food before. What are your experiences there? Thanks!

Honestly I would stick to BOG. Akershus is awesome but it has relatively the same Princesses as CRT. Besides you could always stick with MK and do a Princess M&G Day with the Princesses at Fairytale Hall and you could meet Merida & Tiana & Tinkerbelle, followed by maybe Enchanted Tales with Belle then meet Gaston and finish up at BOG to meet the Beast. Sounds like a magical day to me! You could always have an early dinner at BOG and then PH to Epcot for the EMHs there since MK closes at 7 that day

Thanks for the suggestions! Maybe we'll just try and get an early dinner in at BOG and then head over to Epcot once MK closes. I'm really hoping that we could do the Frozen attractions at Epcot that night during EMH. But don't know if that would even be feasible.

But don't know if that would even be feasible.

I think the Frozen attractions will be FastPass essential, and won't be available as 4th FP+. You would need to do MK without FP, and then book your FP for Epcot after 7.

That's what I figured... Does this typically hold true even during EMH?

We ate at BOG and loved it. Akershaus just got voted right out of our upcoming plans.

But for character experience and autographs that are hard to snatched up, I'd go with Akershaus for your little princess. The character interaction at BOG isn't great and may even scare her.

So for food, BOG but for experience /photo opp/autographs...Aker.

Plus a fancy photo with Belle to keep!

IMO, Askerus food is better... when you throw in the PRINCESS' seems like a no brainer to me..

I am a pretty adventurous eater but the menu of akershus just doesn't appeal to me. it is a great value on DDP and I keep wanting to want to go there, but can't make myself (not to mention my son nixed anything with princesses, lol). I am excited to try BoG though, the food gets mostly decent to great reviews at dinner. If you weren't doing CRT in the morning I'd vote for Akershus but also depending on how observant your little one is, I'd be wary of doing the same face characters twice in a day but with different actors... might ruin the magic a bit for the princesses to be different people if she'd notice that sort of thing!

Ok thanks! I figured as much, maybe not really worth it to head over there that night then.
We don't have any visibility on Epcot FP+ tiers when the new attractions open. It may very well be that you could only FP one of the two Frozen attractions. In an evening EMH on a party night, I wouldn't expect any top-tier attractions to be walk-on, especially somewhere like Epcot.

I agree, the princess interaction is priceless but since she'll already have that earlier at CRT I wasn't sure if it would be princess overkill you know? Especially if the food isn't that great. I'll need to ponder this a little more... Good thnig I have a little time to think about it.

That's a very good point about different actors, my daughter is pretty observant but she may not notice just due to the excitement. But definitely something to think about!

BOG just didn't impress us much. The ambiance is kinda cool at night, but I felt that the 'appearance' by the Beast was kind of a let down and the food was just OK. Akershus had good food and plenty of princess interaction. Instead of BOG, I would make a point to do Enchanted Tales With Belle.

Re: the different actresses - Our oldest daughter was 4 at the time we went to Akershus. We also happened to visit the princesses when they had the meet and greet at the front of Magic Kingdom on the same trip - so she ended up meeting two Belle's. Our daughter did make the comment that she liked the Belle at the meet and greet better than the one she posed with at Akershus. But despite that, I think she still totally enjoyed both. And she was still into characters when we came back two years later.

Oh, I definitely wouldn't expect walk on but was just hoping for not a 3 hour wait! The whole tiering thing is what's messing me up!

Thanks for the suggestions! Seems like I still have some things to consider!

We did both and liked both. BOG is just Beast while Akershus has several princesses and the princess parade. For a princess-themed day, I'd go with Akershus. We liked the food, especially the yummy cold bar.

We met Belle twice in the same day as we did Enchanted Tales the morning we did Akershus and my 4 YO did not notice the difference, neither did my bff! I whispered to Belle that we had met her earlier and she played it up, saying how nice it was to see him again and later my bff commented "how weird that it would be the same Belle in both parks". We still laugh about that.

We're also doing a princess day for my daughter's 5th birthday. 2 days before her birthday, we're having dinner at CRT. Then, on her birthday we'll have lunch at Akershus and dinner at BOG. Her birthday is one of the low crowds day at epcot, so we want to take advantage of that, then head over to MK for dinner.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I think we are now either going to stick to BOG dinner for that day or maybe do 1900 Park Fare for dinner. I think I'm going to try and do a PPO Breakfast at Akershus another day to try and get an advantage on the new Frozen attractions so I don't think we need to do 2 Akershus meals in 1 trip. Thoughts on BOG vs. 1900 PF?

We are fans of both BOG and 1900PF. For food, I'd definitely pick BOG but for the princess themed day, I'd pick 1900 PF. We always have the best interactions with characters at 1900 and of the buffets- it's our favorite for dinner.
