My sister and her family are in MK today and just scored a last minute 9:15 BOG for tonight.
HEA is scheduled for 9:15. They've neither dined at BOG nor seen the fireworks so that puts them in a bit of a pickle.

I've never checked in late for an ADR (I'm weird like that) - but I've heard about a grace period behind your ADR in case you're running late? If they wait it out and watch the first 10 minutes of the fireworks they should be alright to still check in around 9:25? I don't want to give them bad advice and have them miss their dinner. Any advice on what I should tell them?

Unfortunately, they probably can't check in late in this case because it is too close to closing time. But after checking in, they will be waiting outside until their table is ready and is actually a decent spot to watch from or at least used to be. They could let the person they check in with know they would like to watch the fireworks, so they don't mind waiting longer for their table.

Just know that no matter what due to how close to closing it is, the service will be rushed.

Great advice thank you, I appreciate the speedy response! I don't think the rushed service will bother them, its late and their kiddos won't be too upset with a rushed dinner. I'll message them and let them know :)

The "grace period" is not meant to be used to overschedule yourself. I would pick one or the other and live with that decision.

Actually, my sister checked in just after her scheduled time and the CM told them to come back up to the stand when the fireworks were over. And then asked which room she preferred to dine in.

She did not intentionally “over schedule” herself, the ADR finder hit on the 9:15 with less than three hours before. Sorry you seem to be so offended by my question. I feel this is by far the least scandalous way to benefit from the grace period. Relax.

Thank you for the solid advice, she did just as you recommended, watched the entire show, dined in West Wing and got a bonus photo with Beast. I appreciate your help!
