Bog cancel fee question

We have a Party of four bog dinner reservations last night of our visit. I know this is a hard reservation to get which is why I'm reluctant to cancel but let's say we are worn out this day and decide to cancel at the last min, meaning three or four hrs in advance. Am I correct that we will be charged $40 to do so even though there's a waiting list for cancelations at this venue? Any way around this should this happen?

What time is your ADR. You are going to eat dinner some time that night, right. Anyway, yes you could be charged for not showing up.

BOG Reservations for 7:15 pm. Plan this day is rope drop/emh HS and breakfast at 9:25am sci fi Star Wars. Assume we will be pretty full after this. Then park hop to MK for afternoon parade. Have a FP BOG lunch for 2:05pm but not sure anyone will be hungry by then. If they are hungry will eat QS and be done eating for day besides perhaps eve snack. If not hungry then yes we could wait and skip bog lunch and just do dinner. This just seems like a long day even with an two hr break in am after HS. Factoring last full day of vacation and we may be all parked up come 5pm and head back to resort for a good nights sleep. If we have the energy left in us we will definately keep dinner reservation and cancel fp lunch reservation. Just would love to have a choice on day of without financial penalty.

If we will be charged $40 for late cancel I was wondering if I could stop by bog this day prior to leaving park and ask people standing around if they want my reservation for dinner, give my name to them and avoid $40 fee.

I understand the $40 cancel fee rational but in bog case where people are on waiting lists for cancellations it seems a bit silly to charge. When we were there in jan there were many people being turned away when I checked in for dinner. This on a crowd level 3 day.

I'm sure you could probably find someone to go in and use your name, but you would have to trust that they would do so. Otherwise, yes, you will be charged. Why not just skip the lunch FP+ and have a snack, then BOG for dinner? I have done both and much prefer both the food and atmosphere at dinner.

If you don't go to your reservation, you will be charged. So decide before that day if you want to keep it.

The no show fee was originally applied to only the most popular restaurants. It's in place as a deterrent. They later realized it was a good $ maker for all restaurants, but the starting motivation was to try and cure the no show problems with their most popular spots. They were getting flooded with complaints, so they tweaked the system to make it more difficult to double book and to punish those who decided to ditch on their ADRs. Restaurants can't run efficiently if people who make reservations fail to show up. Plus, if you've ever seen some of these walk up lines ... it can get pretty nasty.

I don't always love the policy since I like some flexibility, but also know there's very little of that with popular spots. Still, I try and think about the other people who are dying for these ADRs. I've given up a BOG ADR before. I held it for a bit because I wasn't 100% and I knew I'd never get it back, but in the end (well, really 3 mos out) I knew we'd likely not make it and it would be nicer to give it to someone who really needed it.

OP....Is it a dinner reservation at BOG? Or a lunch fast pass? Are you charged for cancelling a fast pass lunch at BOG?

You will be charged if you cancel same day or don't show up. If you cancel before midnight the day before, you will be fine. I know that doesn't help, but that is how the new system is set up.

I don't know about the BOG fastpass. I would think that if you think you don't want to go you should cancel it in advance. You can still do the standby line, and when I was there last it moved pretty quickly all things considered. The Fastpass line I was in took forever!!!

I would try to make a decision in advance about what would be best for your family.

I think the cancel fee only holds for dinner. I did not see anything about it for QS FP and the system did not ask me for a credit card to hold FP BOG lunch. I'm planning on keeping dinner reservation and if not hungry I guess we could get coffee and dessert?

Reluctant to cancel as I'm waiting to see what people think of sci fi Star Wars breakfast. Depending on reviews we may be canceling this instead. That breakfast is going to cost $240 with tip.
