BOG better be worth it!

We have late reservations at BOG in July. Someone told us to request a table with a fireworks view. Has anyone heard whether or not you could see the fireworks from BOG and if so, is it better there than outside near the castle?
I've eaten there twice, in two different rooms. Yes, you sure can hear the fireworks...sounds like they are bombing the restaurant. But see them? Nope. No windows to the outside that I saw, in either room.

I ate there in Dec, ate there last week, and will eat there in early Sept. Then, I'm done. Yes, it's pretty, but in all reality? I don't think it's worth the angst and the stress. My friend and I are going for lunch in Sept after my dh goes home. We'll see how I feel about lunch in there. But dinner? Nope, not doing it again.

I am stalking BOG reservations for Dec. Is the only way to book "180+#nts" days out to call in on the phone? When I look online it doesn't look like it will book past exactly 180 days, and it sounds like getting in at 180+4 days makes a big difference in availability.

If you are signed into MDE on the new site there is no trouble doing the 180+10. Also if you have multiple CC hold ADRs you are wanting to book after you enter your CC info the first time you can save it to your profile thereby eliminating the need to enter it every time you make a new ADR for restaurants requiring CC holds :thumbsup2

I do not think any restaurant in WDW is worth all the hassle. Up early, 180+ days out, rearranging schedules, stalking and in the case of some making reservations to get in at the 180+10 they will cancel later...... We ate there on New Years day. Got in line for lunch and 20 minutes later eating. We would never have bothered had the line been any longer. It was your typical "meh" WDW park meal. Yes the decor is really cool. But not cool enough to warrant all this craziness.

Hmm... the problem is MDE doesn't "see" my reservation because it's DVC points, and accessing MDE via the DVCmember link doesn't seem to transfer the info. I may just have to call unless someone knows how to transfer the info.

I had no problem today getting a reservation for Tuesday, Decembet 10th at 6:30 for our trip in December. It is a DVMCP night.

Had a time at BOG that was not to our liking but kept checking and got the time and day we wanted. It better be worth this hassle

Oh that really sucks, I was worried about linking my reservation since I booked thru a TA for November but much to my surprise no problem at all. In fact the new site worked better for me than the old site on my previous 2 trips when I booked directly with WDW when making ADRs.

Worth it! We dined there for dinner in March, and it was awesome! I was there for the ambience, but was surprised how very delicious the food was. I had the pork rack chop with macaroni au gratin and it was out of this world. It's a must-do for us now, for every trip if we can get it!!! ;)

I've been trying since the end of Feb. to get one either Aug. 27th or 31st and I've seen nothing at all for those dates. I'll keep trying up to when we go and maybe even when we get there but I'm not holding out a lot of hope for it and think we will have to try and do lunch there on our MK day as long as the line up isn't to crazy. I might have to just live through all of you who managed to get a ADR!:thumbsup2

had the same problem but finally got one for aug20th have been rechecking to see if I can get my preferred time but to no avail, at least I got one

Had no problem getting our reservation at 180 days. We will be dining their on June 23 at 5:40pm for 7 of us. My sister and me are looking forward to it...but we are not sure if our sons will be into it!:thumbsup2

Thanks everyone! For dinner they only have the ballroom open, correct? I thought I read that somewhere. I am excited.. it's too bad it has to be on our very last night there but oh well.

When we went for dinner, the ballroom and the west wing were open, the rose gallery was closed. We ate in the ballroom but after our dinner our waitress said we could go look in the west wing.

We decided last week to plan an early Sept. visit, I had no idea how packed the ADRs are now! We've only used the ADR system once at Le Cellier last year. I tried 3 or 4 times online this weekend and got a 4:05 dinner res for the Thursday of our trip :) We haven't been to MK since 2007 so I'm pretty excited to see New Fantasyland and Beast's castle, didn't know until tonight you get to meet the Beast!!

Yeah, but that was at 185 days, not 180. Though I'm glad to hear that you can get them for early on MVMCP nights (assuming without tickets for the event), as that happens a couple of times while we are there, and we'll only go once. Can someone post a link for a reliable calculator for what day to start booking?

It is definitely worth it. We had my early birthday dinner there on May 31st. I had the steak, my son had the pork chop and his girlfriend has the Cornish Hen. We all enjoyed the food. The only complaint was that with the Cornish hen they only put 4 small thin pieces of asparagus - I think they should have had more than that. I forgot what her other vegetable was.
We also had the cupcakes for dessert and they were delicious as well. We had the strawberry, lemon meringue and the chocolate.
And for my birthday treat I got to try the grey stuff. :cool1:

I'll chime in on BOG to agree with those who said it is worth it. We ate there last December for dinner as well as twice for lunch. We loved everything about it. Our food was really good and was not cold nor did it taste reheated. And if you don't get a ressie for dinner, don't be daunted by the line during lunch. Once they open, it goes really quickly and is so worth it. I got the braised beef w/mashed potatoes and it was yummy! For dinner I got the steak and DH got the salmon and both were great. I also got to taste the grey stuff for my birthday celebration. Loved that too!

It took me trying twice a day for 151 days to FINALLY get a ADR for BOG. I'm a bit disappointed because it is 8:55pm and the fireworks will start at 9pm. I LOVE my fireworks, so I'm sacrificing a bunch to go to BOG, but I'm thrilled to finally get it. I can't believe how hard it was to get, I had started trying to get it at 180 days (+5). I'm going to keep trying to get a different time, but at least I have an ADR.

I made my reservations this morning and there was nothing available until our very last day (Dec. 9th). I was not planning on MK on the last day so my entire plan got rearranged while I was on the phone with Disney.. lol. I am amazed at how hard most of the reservations were to get! Ohana was another one that barely had any availability. I then called back an hour later for Hoop De Doo and all of the category 2 seats were booked. Crazy!

Not sure if you're doing BOG for lunch or dinner, but if you're doing lunch, I highly recommend NOT getting the veggie quiche. It sounded so good when I ordered it, and I absolutely loathed it. My boyfriend's turkey sandwich, however, was outstanding, and my mouth was watering just watching him devour it.
