I sure wish Disney would have thought through the ADR opening a little more,... shoud have atleast stagged it in,... offered advance bookings to AP holders, and DVC owners, and or reqiured a resort booking too. My call got dropped twice while I was on hold and now my DD's will miss out. Their bummed.

Don't give up, just keep checking. A lot can happen between now and your desired date. :hippie:

why does that make it more 'fair'? most people aren't AP holders and even fewer are DVC owners.

I understand you are disappointed but I didn't get to go the the London Olympics and I really, really, really wanted to. I just didn't get to go. We can't have everything we want.

I never used the word "fair", and you missed my point,... Disney could have done things in a more orderly manner. Offering pre-booking perks to AP holders or DVC memebers (which I am not one) were simply suggestions! I'm sure my DD's are just ones of many that are dissapointed. And no I never suggested we should get all we ever want. ... Once again a simple post that someone takes too seriously.

I have an AP, a condo locally and I no longer think really far in advance when it comes to Disney reservations anymore. Have friends coming in January and I decided on Thursday to see about reservations at BOG and I got my first choice. Lots of times I decide where I want to eat one month, two weeks, or a week out and I just keep on trying (online) and have always gotten a reservation. Things change constantly.

I would not give up. The restaurant doesn't open for several months. If the ADR you wanted was for tomorrow I would be concerned. I think you have a good chance of getting it.

Sorry you're bummed, but you can still go for lunch since it is QS. Btw, there are going to be some previews for AP and DVC. I'm not either so I don't know the details. If you are a AP or DVC member, you should check it out. You could also continue to check for availability online, some people do cancel. Or as a last resort, you can try a walk up. Good luck :)

I agree with the other posters. I would tell your daugther about the quick service. I have a feeling that there will be line ups but considering I waited once with my daughter's friend to see rapunzel in the rain for almost 2 hours, I would probably do the same for the BOG lunch time. Good Luck.

sorry if i misconstrued your point but what you said was

.

If they HAD done it exactly the way you suggested--advance bookings to AP holders, etc, it doesn't mean that you would have gotten your ADR that way either. There are thousands of AP holders and everybody wants to be 'first'--including me--to try the new place. IMO, Disney did the only thing they could do...you open to everyone and let the chaos ensue. It's a simple matter of HUGE demand and little supply. It happens all the time.

When are you planning on going? There is a really good chance that lots of people jumped on these ADRs out of pure emotion and will be changing/cancelling them. If you check the website and cancellation thread daily, I bet you will eventually get what you want:goodvibes

We were lucky enough to get an ADR for our Xmas trip, but I wasn't going to be too disappointed if it didn't work out. The restaurant will be there. We'll be back. If this was your once in a lifetime trip to be at WDW, I can understand the huge disappointment.

My DH and I both tried non-stop for nearly 12 hours to get a reservation. Twice DH got through only to be dropped, once after sitting on the line listening to the Disney music for an hour and 5 mins. Another time he was dropped after about 20 mins on the line. I was dropped once after about a half hour wait, but for the most part, we simply either got busy signals of the "all circuits" are busy recording. Nearly 12 hours later (around 530pm CST) we got through, only to be told there was nothing available for our week. :( But we'll keep trying...sometimes things open up. But I will agree that things were definately too busy for Disney to keep up.

After trying, and not even getting anything other than a busy signal, for two hours?? I called MS. I was able to get an ADR from them, at about 9:30am!!! Not for the day I really wanted it, but better than nothing.

There is bound to be some disappointment. There is really no way to even the playing field. It would have been nice to see them hold a certain percentage for subsequent days...maybe put out 25% of the available seats daily. But, it is what it is.

I think they should have staggered it more based on the date of the reservation. Instead of opening the floodgates to everyone going from Nov through February, they could have just done the preview period the first week, then opened the rest of Dec the next week, then Jan, etc... until they reached the 180 day out normal state.

At least that might have allowed more people to get through in a reasonable time.

I agree they should have staggered the weeks. That would have definitely decreased the call volume. I consider my family lucky that I got thru on my first call.

Right now we have no idea of the difference between lunch and dinner. Dinner could end up being twice as expensive for nothing other than a "guaranteed" spot. Many people could end up canceling for that reason, or any other reasons. For example, I'm not even sure I'll be going on a trip yet, but I snagged an ADR just in case.

They could also only be testing out a certain volume in the first few weeks, and they may adjust it to open up more availability later on.

The only thing that would really make a difference in these cases is that people might not end up sitting on hold for as long. I suppose that might take the sting out.
I have a tentative trip planned for January and managed to grab an ADR after they opened it to online bookings. If it hadn't worked out, I would have gone by at lunch time to see what it looked like, and if it still didn't work out, I would have been fine waiting for a future trip.

I have read several articles highlighting the differences between lunch and dinner.

Wow, I didn't know any of this. I reached my 180+10 mark today and just went on line and got an ADR for my first choice at the end of February. I thought it would be hard, but it was a piece of cake. So, just keep trying, I guess. (Now Le Cellier was a different story :headache:)

Keep trying on LeCellier - I decided about August 1 I wanted a reservation for August 11 and I got it.

Slight differences in the food (with all the same desserts) but the only difference in the experience is that you order at a terminal, instead of at your table.
I think they have got to have something up their sleeve to make dinner worth the ADR, and the added expense I'm sure they're going to assign the food.
Maybe I'm wrong, but we shall all know in a few months.
