I HATE my jean shorts because every other step I have to stop and pull them down because for some reason they like to bunch up my thighs. :confused3 So I was thinking about wearing my lightweight cotton skirts for our up coming trip, but then there is the problem of chaffing. Most times I wear a skirt for long periods of time while walking this occurs. So what exactly is body glide and where can I get some and will it work? Thanks. :goodvibes

I can't tell you exactly what Body Glide is, but my BF used something that I suspect was very similar when he ran marathons. I don't remember what it was called, but it kept him from chafing around his armpits. He got his from roadrunnersports.com, but you can probably get something just like it (or even Body Glide) from a really good sports store, like REI.

HTH! :)

My boys swear by it. It helps prevent chaffing. We use it during soccer season and would never think of heading to the world without it! We get ours at allsports.com :teacher:

I use it for chafing & also to help prevent blisters on my feet. I use it every trip to Disney. I order mine on line from Drugstore.com. It really works well.

I never knew such a thing existed, but it sounds like something I'd benefit from.

We got ours from Dicks Sports Stores. It was a great help last August!

I bought some at a local sporting goods store to use on our footsies on our upcoming trip. I'm hoping we won't need the moleskin like last time. :earseek:

Got ours from drugstore.com...a great site, BTW. The product itself works for chafing EVERYWHERE (I have problems under my bra straps, of all places, as well as the usual spots). My son just started using it for marching band, on thighs and where his neckstrap rubs. It works wonders! Just make sure you buy a stick for every individual. It's a solid, like an antiperspirant stick, goes on the same way, so for hygienic reasons each person should have their own.

On our last trip, my daughter wore tight spandex (body armor?) bike shorts under her mesh shorts. She said it really helped with the chaffing. I used Body Glide on my blister-prone feet. What a difference - not one blister. DH used Body Glide to prevent underarm chaffing while working outside in the humid weather -again, what a difference - no chaffing! Don't know what makes it work, but I'll never venture to WDW without it again! I purchased my Body Glide at the Eastern Mountain Sports store. Hope this helps.

I've used unscented Ban rollon for the same purpose for years. Works perfect and is available EVERYWHERE. A doctor recommended it to me. What a relief! It even works well after you have started chaffing.

and I felt much more comfortable around the waistband and under the bra straps.

I bought mine at the local bike shop in town. I know a lot of bikers that use it too. Check locally before ordering on line because of shipping.

I went to the bodyglide website (www.bodyglide.com) and used the store locator to find it for sale at a local (well fairly local) marathon/bikers store. I haven't used it at WDW yet but I will in just a few days. I did try it with my sandals and I found out one thing...if you put it on the bottom of your feet, they will be slippery for awhile in your sandals hence the word "glide" in the name :rotfl:
Hope that helps!

My new fave product is Monistat AntiChafing Gel/Powder, found at any drugstore. Works WONDERS, you don't even know you have it on, and it's cheap! I paid $3.99 for it at Walgreens.

I wear cotton skirts every single day and use this every morning and it lasts all day. It'll be going in my bag to Disney in October!

Thank you Thank you! I just couldn't justify paying 5 bucks for the body glide PLUS shipping. I thought I had heard about the Monistat product, now that I know I wasn't dreaming it, I will be getting it pronto. Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is why I love this board................ I've never heard of bodyglide, but I need it!!!!!!!!! On our last trip, I could've used it for the entire family!!

Thanks............ I'm off to get mine!!

Yes, there is a monistat chafing relief, powder gel. I think it is called soothing care. Just wanted to let you know that it works really well. I bought a tube of it at Target. I think it was around $5 or$6. I hope it helps someone else.
Thresa

I was at target yesterday........... wish I'd come here first......... lol!!!

I use Mueller Runner's Lube when I run a marathon or long race. It contains Lanolin, Benzocaine and Zinc Oxide.

One word of CAUTION with any of the products mentioned in this thread:

Try it BEFORE your trip.

This sounds wonderful for the OP, and any other woman that needs it. I somehow doubt, though, that I'll get my 15yo son to try a Monistat product...so Bodyglide it must be.
