Can someone clarify the shoe requirement for the above excursion? On the website it says:

Guests choosing to climb the falls are required to wear proper shoe attire. They must be fully secured and contain a rubber sole. Suggestions include teva sandals and water shoes, which can be brought from home.

Do guests who are not climbing the falls have to wear these shoes?
Do they have to be fully enclosed or can they be open?

Ie if climbing not flip flops, if walking up on the dry path it shouldn't matter, but in the cool river it is slippery and you need enclosed or part enclosed shoes with grip.

So good water shoes. Not open Crocs but say most enclosed. Not sliders.

You wouldn't want to try climbing in flip flops even if they let you. The rocks are uneven and unsteady at places and you'd risk cuts and falls. I wouldn't even do Teva's, when I went (all be it over 10 years ago) I used water shoes and was thankful.

We (four adults not Senior Citizens) did this excursion about three weeks ago and were really looking forward to it. Here is what we experienced. If not climbing the falls but following along, you will stay on pavement the whole time except for a few minutes at the bottom where there is a sandy beach where the falls empty into the bay. Shortly after leaving your bus you will be steady walking downhill with several stairs along the way. On the way back it is pretty much an uphill climb and if not in good health some of the stairs are challenging. Our group waited (they keep groups together) several times for some who were having to stop and sit for a while to get up stairs. We were there a couple of weeks ago and the temperature was OK But you are soaked with sweat during this walk by the humidity. They DO NOT provide you with any water on this excursion but there are a few locations along the way where you can buy water or their Red Stripe beer. So either carry some water or be prepared to buy theirs because you could easily become dehydrated. You will pretty much be wet from perspiration the rest of the day after you leave the bus. As far as the Bobsled portion we enjoyed the chairlift ride, but once you get to the top we were immediately placed in a line for the ride pretty close to the front. We waited in line inching along for about 45 minutes before we decided we had to eat, one of our guests was becoming light headed and the line was so SLOW. You leave the ship for this excursion by 7:15 so you will not get a HOT breakfast but can snag a muffin or cereal before leaving. By the time we got out of line for the bobsled it was around 1:15 and probably at least another 35 minutes or longer from riding. There are around 8 picnic tables (6 of them in direct sun) for everyone up top to share while eating and there will be multiple ships in port, this tour company is NOT prepared for the number of guests that are there at once. You get a chicken thigh or drumstick and two spoons of rice and a small cup of punch or rum punch, if you want water or beer you can purchase it. There were two chairs at their mini bar, we gave our guests the chairs which was slightly out of the sun, my DW and I stood. It is about a 45 minute ride each way from the ship to the Bobsled and by the time you get back you have around an hour or less to see the port before having to be back on ship. Plus you will be hungry, sweaty and a little dehydrated unless you wear a camel pack. This port was the visually nicest and cleanest port of the three and we wished we had more time there. There was a Quiznos, Nathan's Hot Dogs and Dairy Queen right there in port after you leave the ship. We would much rather have enjoyed the day in port and had a MUCH better lunch. For 135.00 per person we would not do this again and walk around this port instead.

Yikes! Anyone else experience this excursion?
