Bobby's on the Move Today....SOUTH!!!

According to Fred Dodd's report in this morning's paper, Bobby's unit spent yesterday packing for a expected move today - south toward Kuwait.

My kids immediately thought that meant he'd be home next week. I quickly reminded them that it took us MONTHS to get all of these troops overseas, and it will take MONTHS to bring them home.

....but I still have a reason to smile.

That's fantastic! I also heard from the family of "my" soldier. They heard from her this weekend, and were of course ecstatic. Anyway she has been on the front lines all this time, and now they are rotating troops. She is headed back to the home base, which means, among other things, a ROOM to sleep in and a hot shower. It's supposed to take a week to get there.

Sounds great! I remember how relieved I was when DH was back in Saudi after the Gulf war. He did have to go back and forth a few weeks more supporting humanitarian aid though.
I wonder if it is just the Marines moving south? The Army's 3rd ID has been in East Baghdad since they gained control of the airport during the war and I hear they are now in charge of all of Baghdad. Another Army friend who has been in Iraq during the war is actually moving NORTH of Baghdad this week ! Count your blessings! Maybe more phone calls will come your way!
