Sorry, but this review will not be as detailed as my others from our trip were. We had this Clear Channel GC left over from our July trip. We decided to drive over Sun. the 29th to use it before it expired. By the time we left I wasn't feeling, and between now and then, as you probably know, we have been through hurricane Frances. Thankfully, we had very little damage, but it was still distracting, and unfortunatly made me forget some details. Well here goes what we remembered:

What we ordered:
DH - fried Red Snapper w/ yucca fries (he thinks that's what they were called  ) either way, both were very good. His dish also had Bammy? (they were triangle shaped & tasteless) $16.95

Me - Seared Tuna on greens w/ orange vinaigrette dressing. As if an afterthought, they throwed on a couple tasteless fried plaintains. The tuna & salad were very good. I was a bit surprised when our server asked how I wanted my tuna cooked. Apparently, if you wish, you can have this dish served sushi style.
$15.95

DS (12) - Calamari w/ spicy tomato sauce. He loved this, and was by far the most pleased with the meal. That was appropriate, since he was the one who wanted to go in the 1st place. $7.95

DH & I both had an "Is This Love" cocunut cake. It was served with ice cream on the side & 2 slices pineapple. This dessert was delicious, unlike anything we had had before. However, we should have shared, since DS was full & wouldn't help us eat it.
2 @ $4.95 ea.

This is one restaurant that I'm glad that we had the GC for. Had we not, we probably wouldn't have gone, and it was a great "one" time experience. We probably won't go back. DS loves Bob Marley, and loved the atmosphere. We were seated on the inside (if you can call it that). There were empty tables on the open air patio, but DH didn't want to ask to be moved, because he thought the music was too loud. (He was confused and thought he was at WDW. He was playing his Grumpy role.
 ) The music I could handle, the heat was another story. While there was a breeze on the patio, it was miserably hot in the covered seating area. Although our server was perfect for the restaurant (he had the long dreads, and fit in perfectly), he was relatively inattentive and very slow. The heat combined with the inability to get drink refills was not a good combo.

Our totat w/ tax & tip was $72, paid for 2 a $50 GC (which I paid $15 for) and $22. Our son enjoyed himself enough to get $37 worth, and the food was o.k., but if I had paid $72 for this meal, I would have been very upset. If they figured out a way to air condition this place, I would consider going back. Until then "no thanks".

glad you kind of enjoyed your meal

i had ox tails & beans & rice- i am a constant eater of west indian food and this really didn't measure up- they had nothing on the menu for kids so DS5 got chicken wings without the jerk sauce- actually the rest of the family got this as nothing caught their attention on the menu

the drinks were not strong at all- and cost a mint

i am glad i had got the blow out also for these GC's as i would have been very unhappy if i paid full price

server was just okay- i know i should be flattered but when she asked for ID i didn't have any on me- but my hubby did & he is 43 & we were sitting with our kids, 18, 17 & 5- when i said that i was going to leave she finally said she would serve me (i am 40) but i guess this is my own fault for not bringing ID:rolleyes:

later during the meal the server stated, "lets just start all over again" she knew i was kinda pissed....but i also think this was her way of ensuring a tip, which she got (15%) of $100 bill

:wave2:

You know, we had an ok experience as well.

I also bought a blow out certificate.

The four of us (2 adults, 2 kids) went. My DH knew we were in trouble when the hostess saw our kids and said "We don't have a kids menu".

I noted that it was fine, and that woudl would still be ok. We wound up in a back table near the merchandise. I am glad we were in the back, because the music was a bit loud.

That being said, I loved the steel drums and the music. My DH mother loved reggae, and island music. She spent a lot of time at the islands before her death, so to hear this, see this, reminded me of her. She would have been out on the dance floor!

The food itself was ok. WE got an appetizer which was like a cheese dip. It wasn't bad, but there was only like 4 chips! The kids liked the sugarcane piece that went with it.

There wasn't a kids meal, so my kids shared the shrimp dish. They ate it all. My husband had the tuna, and he liked it, although he said it was a smallish portion. I had the Jamaican stew, and it wasn't what I thought, but still good. We also shared one drink, good, but although small.

We didn't bother with dessert. My DH didn't think it was worth $65. We did have the cert so it made the meal less, but it was still high for what you got.

It was nice to say you have done it once, but we may not return later.

Cindy B,
You reminded me that I wanted to mention the portion size as well. Usually, I can never eat all my food at any of Universal's restaurants, or any other restaurant for that matter. I cleaned my plate, which meant that the portions were too small for DH. Europeans always complain that American rest. portions are too large, I guess Bob Marley's had them in mind.

Yes, the portions were a bit small. Usually the portions are huge, and we could finish portions easily here.

I thought the stew would be served in a pot, but it was more like jambalaya style, not actually stew. It was still good though.

My DH wasn't fond of the greens under the tuna, so he actually gave it to me.

good Tuna is supposed to be served rare. Alot of people are afraid to eat rare fish so that is why they ask. The restaurant does not want to have the tuna coming back because people think it is raw. It isn't sushi since it is cooked but it is seared on the outside and rare in the middle. It is the way tuna "should" be prepared although alot of people are still freaked out by it. Once you try perfectly seared Tuna you will never go back to well done trust me :)

I wasn't "freaked out", just a little surprised, since I had never been asked before. The server told me that they offer it rare for people who want sushi. His words, not mine. My dish was very good, but it was too hot in there to enjoy it. It was mostly the heat that would keep me away. Plus, the menu wasn't that great, and the portions were small. Just not the best choice on Citywalk, IMO.
