Bob Iger extends contract into 2019

Just saw this. Hard to believe they can't find anyone to succeed him. I get that it's a diversified company, making it hard to pick an overall leader, and that he has led the conglomerate to record heights, but this has been going on for years and now will go on for at least 2 more. I certainly wish they would find someone more Parks focused, but with the money they are making on movies, and the problems with cable properties, I'm guessing whenever they do find someone he/she will be focused on those areas. As a stockholder I'm just irritated it keeps dragging on.

Wow, this article is a major cheerleading event. I'm not saying that he hasn't done at least a portion of these things but I think that the parks need another direction. Everything is so messy in that regard and the tone is set at the top imo.
Agreed.

I agree. However, there is every indication that Pandora is going to be a major success for Disney, and it's a foregone conclusion that the new Star Wars land will draw massive crowds. I'd also anticipate the new Toy Story land to do well also. Given that, he's going to be seen as having major successes for the parks, regardless of what we theme park fans think.

I'll reserve judgment until I see the final products plus I'll give most credit to James Cameron if Pandora is good. However I do agree that the public will see him as a big success no matter what.

No surprise after the massive success of Beauty and the Beast. The board clearly wants him to stay since he's good at pleasing the shareholders. I'm not sure whether this is good or bad news though. I think the Shanghai effect has affected negatively his Parks and Resorts record. That's really what caused the budget cuts and the big price increases. At the same time, the company has never been as successful as it is these days. I guess we'll have to wait and hope that he puts a little bit more effort into the P&R division... And that he doesn't turn the Disney parks into an upper class playground.

I think it was CNBC but they someone just interviewed an expert in this area and they noted that Disney CEO's have a tendency to stay too long.

Hmmm, July 2019??? Open DL's Star Wars Land and then ride off into the sunset with that huge golden sack?
