My family and I love to tour the resorts. I was thinking about walking around POR and eating at Boatwrights. Is this a nice resort and rest. to tour and eat at? We have already seen Poly, WL, GF, AK. We do not want anything really fancy because my kids are 4 and 6. Any other ideas would be great too.

Hubby and I love Boatwrights. They atmosphere is really nice inthe restaurant. The property is really large, but it is fun to walk around because the buildings are so different with the Mansions and Alligator bayou sections. Each building has it's own personality. The gift store there is also one of the best at a resort in my opinion. We would suggest this as an option, we love Boatwrights :)

I would agree. We love POR and try to eat at Boatwrights at least once each trip. It is a casual type restaurant. The little ones will be fine there.
There is a nice sized playground on Ole Man Island, behind the pool area. It's a great place to let off steam for the kids. The pathways around the resort are very pretty.

Hi Taratink,

If you have supper at Boatwrights, which we enjoy, you might want to hang around for Bob Jackson who performs in the River Roost Lounge, and is just great with kids the age of yours, and with the rest of the family as well. Believe he is there Wednesday thru Saturday. Have fun!! Oh, the Boat ride from POR to DTD is real neat.

She liked her hotdog meal, it was great food. Not too fancy and she colored away during dinner! We would recommend it!

Is Boatwrights so busy that we must get ADRs for an early dinner? We are staying at French Quarter and like the option of going to Boatwrights for dinner if we decide to leave the parks early. But don't want to make a reservation if we wind up not going.

we have found that you usually dont need reservations but it dosent hurt.we second for bob jackson aka "cotton eyed joe" he is awesome and a riot your kids will love him.

Boatwright's is our second favorite resort restaurant. You generally don't need ADR's, unless it is a popular day like Christmas or Valentines. If you want a specific time though, it would be beneficial to get and ADR. There are times when the restaurant may be empty but they don't have enough servers to work the tables so you might have to wait.

We love Boatwrights! If you can't get in or have to wait head into the lounge and have an appetizer of nachos there. Very yummy stuff!!!

Ate at Boatwright's last month and it was by far the best meal of the 10 day trip. We all tried things we normally would not have and WOW! DELICIOUS!!!! I would get an ADR as the night we were there they were turning away people. We had called earlier that day and got an ADR and were glad we had. It was an unplanned meal that we were so thrilled we did. It is now on our list of must do's. The POR is wonderful in general and the entertainment going on at the RIver Roost seemed wonderful. We listened from the lobby. Have a wonderful time!
