Hello everyone-

Just wanted to know if anyone's had dinner at Boatwright's and what you thought of it. My family and I are looking forward to the New Orleans type theme. We are starting a new trend to try one new restaurant starting this coming trip. This year we chose Boatwright's. Any help would be much appreciated.....and pictures...which I can't find. Thanks!!

We ate there two years ago when we stayed at POR and really enjoyed it. DH hat catfish and I have the porkchop and they were very good. Now I haven't had much experiance with southern cooking being from western Canada but we thought it was one of the better meals we had at Disney. Though I have to say I really didn't enjoy the grits much but being that was the frist time I had them I might give them another go and see if I like them better. I know a lot of people have said they don't like eating here but I've found that no matter where you eat there is always people who hate it and and those who love it! I think so much depends on who's cooking that day and who's serving etc. You just have to try these places yourself. :cool1:

I also ate there a few years ago and had a good time. The food was good, nothing like some of the other places on property but enjoyed the atmosphere.

I went into Boatwrights with extremely low expectations however my meal was great! I loved the atmosphere as well as the food overall it was a great restaurant :)

If I had a single opportunity for a sit down meal at Disney, it would not be at Boatwrights.

And yet, I really enjoy eating there. We stay at POR/POFQ when we go so Boatwrights is right there. The food is a little better than just okay. The Jambalaya is worthless.

Our Ratings of Boatwrights: (rev 5/12/2013)
. . . food price value: C
. . . food quality: D
. . . food quantity per serving: B
. . . food prep speed: B
. . . food selection: C
. . . seating quantity: C
. . . seating comfort: C
. . . eatery atmosphere: C
. . . eatery convenience: B
. . . staff friendliness: C
. . . staff attentiveness: C
. . . character interaction: n/a

NOTE: Boatwrights used to get good reviews, but over
the past two years has really gone down hill in the food
quality department. In our opinion, it is below average. The
Prime Rib and VooDoo Chicken were both voo-doo hoo-doo.
However, we did enjoy the Blackened Fish Fillet. For dessert,
the Banana Foster Angel Food Cake was heavenly. Convenient
for the resort guests, but not highly recommended. If staying
at POR, we do recommend walking to POFQ for the food court.

I stayed at POFQ in January and one night ended up with nowhere to eat (or too tired to boat it over to Downtown Disney, can't remember) so me and my fiance ended up walking to POR to Boatwrights. I wasn't expecting much, had eaten there years before with my family as a lil one, and WOW! It was one of the best meals we had the entire trip!

Granted, I wouldn't plan any of my days around it, but if I ended up on a night with no dining ressie and too tired to venture elsewhere, I would definitely eat there again. It was much more than I was expecting. So, enjoy!

I'm not sure if you're talking to me @bluejasmine but I had the pasta with shrimp and it was lick-my-plate good. The cornbread was amaaaazing too!

We went last summer and really enjoyed it. The food was good but I would have liked it to have been spicier. I had gumbo for the first time and it was delicious.

POR is usually our resort and we have eaten at Boatwrights many time and enjoyed it- good food. Only complaint? Its loud in there.

We stayed at POR in 2010 and had three enjoyable meals there. I love southern cooking and found it to be very good. We had Blackened Catfish, Etouffe, pork chops, Jambalaya and soup, the cornbread is delicious!
In February, I went solo and traveled from Pop to Boatwrights for a late dinner. I had Vegetarian Jambalaya, there was so much, I tried to eat it all and nearly burst! When my server brought out the bread pudding with butter pecan ice cream I could have cried. I only ate a small mouthful:sad:

I agree with PP who said it is noisy, the only drawback. The tables for twos and singles are along a half wall that overlooks the hallway to the CS restaurant, only 25' or so, away. The lounge is also very nearly attached to the Boatwrights. Ask to be seated away from this area if possible. We will be returning in October.
Definitely try it once, I hope you enjoy.
