Is it worth it to use 1 table service here? We're only going for 4 nights and since we're staying at POR, I booked dinner there 1 night. But now I'm wondering if eating somewhere else would be "more" worth it?

Any advice?

I think it looks like a nice place, haven't eaten there myself but will be on our first night too! (in Sept) One thing you could do to add something cool to it, is book the carriage ride that is right there! We did the horse driven carriage ride - 4 of us, $35 plus we tipped the driver - book in advance though. It was really special. Was me, my DH and two teens - even the teenagers thought it was awesome! Look on allearsnet.com for carriage details

There are many other restaurants that I personally think are "more worth it". But we booked Boatwrights while staying at POR because we wanted a relaxing night at the resort. While I didn't enjoy my pene pasta, (just toooo many olives) the others in my party thought the food was good.
IMHO: If you're looking for fun/ atmosphere and outstanding food, then look elsewhere. If you want to eat and relax, Boatwrights is just fine.

I guess it depends on what you envision that evening to be like. If you want to relax at your hotel, go swimming in the pool go to your room and change and not have to worry about traveling anywhere for dinner, than yes. Or you can always book a resturant at DD and take the boat from your hotel, which might be nice too. We ate at Boatwrights last year for dinner and found the food to be OK, not great, not bad but just OK, but I am sure there are alot of other opinions out there. I would imagine there are other more exciting and "worth it" resturants out there, but IMHO it all depends on you and what kind of evening you want.

I liked the olive-rich penne pasta, and the pot roast on our visit was truly heavenly. We ended up thinking Boatwright's was very much a place we will repeat.

We also ate there on our last trip and we all thought the food was excellent.
I'll just repeat what others have said. I wouldn't plan your evening based on trying to eat at Boatwrights, but if you want a quiet relaxing dinner at your resort, it's a great choice. If you have plans to go somewhere else that evening, I'd pick based on that.

We ate there when we stayed at POFQ, it was wonderful! We really enjoyed our meal there and wouldnt hesitate to go again! The prime rib was really good and I had the fried / herbed cheese as an appetizer. Very yummy!

We did it on a relax night after spending the day at AK, it was a nice walk along the river in the twilight back to POFQ.

Maybe I shouldn't comment since it's been a few years since we've eaten there. But, personally I wouldn't waste a table service there. Food was not bad, but definitely nothing special.

After your dinner see if Bob Jackson is performing in the lounge nextdoor. He puts on a fun show and it is kid friendly. Boatwrights has good comfort food and we've had great service there.

Does anyone know if there are similar restaurants in PO- FQ? That's where we are staying in less than two weeks when we head down. Is Riverside within walking distance of POFQ? I guess I wouldn't mind checking out the place if it's got good food.

We had breakfast there in dec and really enjoyed it. We paid for that meal oop instead of using one of our credits since it was for breakfast. I would probably use a TS for it if I was staying for a short trip.

There is a walkway between the two FQ doesn't have a sit down restaurant since R & FQ are sister resorts they only have boatwrights between the two.

We ate there in 1995 because we where staying at POR and wanted a relaxing day. I personally enjoyed the food court much better.

We walked over from POFQ, all pofq has is the food court. It was a 5 min walk over to POR, or you can wait for and take the boat.

Thanks! That sounds perfect! We'll be there on a Saturday for our first (relax) evening, so hopefully this is what we will do after dinner!
