Boatwright's Dining Hall:

My reservation was for 5:55 and the water shuttles were running a little bit behind, so I ended up checking in at 6:25 or so. No issues.

The cornbread is sweet and served with soft butter. It is brought out right after you place your drink order.

My entree was blackened steak with asparagus and mashed potatoes. The potatoes were delicious and had just the right number of chunks of potatoes rather than a creamy version. Asparagus was presented very well.

The rib-eye was on the thinner cut side. I expected it to be much thicker, but it was a hearty piece. The spices used and cooking it to med-rare was done beautifully. The quality of the steak was well above average. It is not the best steak on property, nor should it be for ~$38.

I had gone into this meal wanting to try the cheesecake but couldn't do it. 1/2 the steak went back to the room along with most of the asparagus.

Service was stellar. I drank water during my meal and the glass never got below halfway due to the waiter constantly filling it.

The decor and lighting appealed to me. We were seated in the upstairs section (near the running fireplace) and it was a darker room with about 75% of the tables filled.

Given some of the criticism of this eatery from the past, I can hand-on-heart say this is an excellent place to enjoy a non-signature dinner for a reasonable price. The offerings are right in the wheelhouse from what I would expect given the resort name/location. I would eat here again, without hesitation.

Got to agree with this review. We (Me, wife and grown step-son) ate there a couple of weeks ago. Went into the meal with fairly low expectations and were pleasantly surprised. No, not in the "must do" category for us, but we would go back.

I nearly forgot to mention that the French Onion Soup here is outstanding. It is very hearty and chock-full of onions in a true beef broth with a piece of bread underneath a heaping amount of cheese baked over a crock. It's worth coming here just for the soup.

Glad to hear. We ate there a few years ago, and at that time I had a pork chop with a delicious sweet potato hash. I decided that the next time I'd say I was vegetarian and see if I could get a big plate of just the sweet potato hash. But sadly, the hash is discontinued so I don't know what I'd order. Any recommendations besides the rib eye?

We ate here on our honeymoon one night about a week or so ago. A must for anyone staying at POR.

We also got the beans and rice with vegetarian meat. It was horrific. No flavor and desert dry.

The French Onion Soup is practically a meal.
