Boats from Epcot

They run roundtrip:

Epcot
Boardwalk
Yacht/Beach Club
Swan/Dolphin
DHS
then reverse route back to Epcot.

If DHS closes before Epcot, they run to/from DHS for an hour after closing, then only to Swan/Dolphin.

This is one of my favorite things to do; I discovered it one year when I was upgraded to the Dolphin.

I do the round trip (I go the week after Thanksgiving) and stop at the Boardwalk to look at the Xmas decorations, grab an ice cream and sit on the benches for about a half hour.

Every winter, when it snows at home and I am digging out my car to get to work, I close my eyes and remember that only weeks before I was hanging out on the boardwalk in shorts and a polo shirt eating ice cream. Enjoy!

The tree is also breathtaking at the Dolphin, and they have a miniature train that goes around the base of it; if you have the time.

This is a fun way to resort hop and Christmas time is perfect for this.

You can stop at Boardwalk - beautiful lobby at Christmas.....then off to YC and BC - Yacht Club has our favorite little gift shop.....checkout Swan and Dolphin if you are curious then back to DHS or EPCOT.

We loved the boats. It was a relaxing ride from DHS to Epcot for our dinner reservation. They land you between the France and Great Britain pavillions.

At DHS they pick you up outside the main gate.

But Shhhssssssh, we don't want everybody to know about them or it will get crowded.

Haha... Maybe everyone should edit their posts to say how horrible the boats are, they're over-crowded and slow.

Thanks for all of your help, I was curious since we'll be leaving EPCOT around 3 on the Friday that F & W starts and were thinking about heading to Hollywood Studios from there.

Are you allowed to take the boats whether or not you are staying at Boardwalk?

My Mom and I are going the first week of December this year; the weather won't be as nice as October, but she's going to love all the Christmas decorations. (Plus smaller crowds are always better!)

Anyone can take the Friendship boats. They are a nice pleasant ride after a lot of walking at the parks.

As noted they run from the Epcot International Gateway to the Disney Studios. They stop along the route at the Boardwalk, Yacht/Beach Clubs, and Swan/Dolphin.

:worship: Lets hope Robo doesn't show up here then, as his wonderfully detail maps & great descriptions, would make even the seasick want to ride!!! :dance3: :dance3:

The only Robo posts on the Transportation board tend to be in threads that started on the Theme Parks board and subsequently were moved here. As a result, this thread probably is "safe," unless Robo decides to post just to prove me wrong.

Weellllll, they kinda are over-crowded and slow already!! :lmao: I tend to walk rather than take the boats. But there are some times it's just nice to sit down and relax on the water.

so if we leave Epcot at the Gateway we will be in DHS in around 30 minutes.. that is probably good seeing at Epcot you would still need to walk to the front and wait on a bus etc etc etc... don't you think its good timing?

Depends on whether or not you have to wait for the boat. If the boat has just left the dock, you will have a wait of about 20 mins before the next one comes along, then 5-10 mins for it to board everyone (after getting everyone off), then 25 mins to DHS....so you can have times of between 25-50 mins.

that doesn't sound as good.. I am glad you brought that to my attention.. but I guess really same thing could happen with a bus right?:cheer2:

I go the first week in December every year; and there has only been one or two days it dipped down in the low 60's. Mostly, it is in the high 70's/low 80's, which I think is perfect weather for that time of year, coming from Delaware.

The wait time for the boats is a factor and it varies, depending on how many boats are in service. I believe the normal number is either 3 or 4 and figuring a round trip time of 60 minutes, that means the average time between boats would be 20 minutes or 15 minutes. We were there last Christmas and we were told that they had 8 boats! in service. It seemed like one was arriving as soon as one was leaving. Here's a tip - if you just miss the boat at the EPCOT dock (i.e. the boat is still in sight) you can walk to the Yacht Club dock (a 7 minute walk) and catch up with the boat (because the boat stops at the Boardwalk before it goes over to the Yacht Club).
