What time does the boat start running to MK in the morning? Is it early enough to get to MK well before 9am official opening? I thought I read something about it starting at 8:30am, but I can't find that information. Thanks so much!

Yes the MK boat begins running 30 minutes before park opening. 9 am opening, 8:30 start for the boat. If there's extra magic hours at 8, boat will being running at 7:30. If you get on the first boat and everything is running smoothly, and there isn't a big crowd at bag check, you can get to the MK before opening but not by much. Another option if you want to be early is to take the boat to the contemporary that begins running at 645 am. Then it is a short walk to the MK.

Thank you! I'm helping some friends plan their trip, so I want it to be as simple as possible. If they want to easily arrive at MK early (without having to take the Contemporary boat), is the bus from the Outpost Depot the best option?

There is no bus from the outpost that will take you to the MK. The bus option is catch a bus over to Wilderness lodge and transfer to a MK bus there. You can get on the bus to WL at the settlement near the restaurants.

Sometimes the bus that takes you from the Fort to WL changes its sign and becomes the bus from WL to MK.... So ask the driver as you get off where their next stop is.
