anyone have experience taking the boats to the contemporary or to mk with an ECV? can you take one on? how many pax do the boats usually take? how long is the trip? is it COLD? we have taken the big ferry before to mk in feb & sometimes we froze...... brrr.
1st timers with a newly purchased class 'C' (for us), and am worried about parking in back of lot at MK with it ,even though we have a handicap permit. cannot exactly take an ECV on the tram.

I have not been on th boats from FW to MK or CR with an ECV, but if I remember right, I have seen them on the larger style boats. I am not sure they can fit on the smaller crafts. The trip to MK is about 10-15 minutes. The boat to CR may also stop at WL depending on which route it is running as it loops the three resorts. If the weather outside is chilly, then it will probably be cold on the boats especially if you are on the outside portions of the boat.

If you want a different option than the boat to MK, you can take the bus from FW to WL and then catch a bus to MK. Some people have indicated that the bus they took to WL then went on the MK, but that might not always be the case.

I'm wondering this same thing. From what I've read online, there are two different boats that go to the MK from the fort, a smaller one and a larger one. ECVs can only fit on the larger one, so you have to always wait for that one. I don't know if it will fit on the boat that goes to the contemporary but would be interested in knowing that. Maybe rusty can advise?

The big boat to the MK is capable of loading an ECV on, you just drive it right on and off, the boat is level with the dock. The boats to the Contemporary you have to step into, so I think they are unable to load them on the smaller boats.

Welcome to the adventures of camping at FW - you will love it!!

Only the larger boat to MK can take ECV's - the smaller ones cannot - not big enough, plus step-down. Usually only two ECV's will fit, but I have seen three - but very crowded. Yes, it 'can' be 'very' cold (for everybody)!!

As for parking your RV at MK, not sure there is room at the handicapped area (in fact pretty sure, 'not', as I've never seen them there). Best thing, take the boat to MK - easy, and no worries!! :goodvibes

I hope so since i seriously detest camping..... i know,, getting an rv is counter-intuitive :rotfl2:
but we have always driven to diz in a van. i always wanted somethign with a bed & bathroom attached :rolleyes1

soooooooo will try the rv route. we leave in less than 3 weeks & am still making lists & buying stuff for the *new* rv. (ok so its almost 30 yrs old , but the price was fantastic) trying to figure out *how* to put a connection through the wall of the RV ( I think) to run cable in(?). plus make new drapes etc.
& WHERE do i put my luggage??

ok, so back to the boats. how often do the BIG boats run?

:dance3:

BAY LAKE & SEVEN SEAS LAGOON RESORT BOATS to/from WL-FW-CR-MK:

Wilderness Lodge, Magic Kingdom: (RED FLAG)
Two Motor Cruisers run each day at 0830-hrs (0730-hrs for EMH) and terminate operations about
one hour after the MK closes. These boats run only between MK-WL.

Fort Wilderness, Magic Kingdom: (GREEN FLAG)
One Motor Launch (GREEN FLAG) runs each from 0830-hrs (0730-hrs for EMH) until about 1-hour
after the MK closes. These boats run only between the MK and the FW.

Fort Wilderness, Wilderness Lodge, Contemporary: (BLUE FLAG)
Two Motor Launches run at 0645-hrs daily. Both run clockwise (FW>WL>CR>FW) until about 1500-hrs
and then reverse direction (CR>WL>FW>CR) at 1500-hrs. Launches terminate at 2330-hrs.

FW-WL-CR, Polynesian, Grand Floridian:
If you want to go to the GF/Poly from the WL, CR or FW by boat, you will have to go to the MK and
then get the Gold flag Launch. In addition, there is no boat that goes directly from the CR to the MK,
GF or Poly. Additional boats may be added to the Gold, Green, Red and Blue routes during periods of
exceptionally high demand, like at heavy MK closings, to alleviate guest lines at the docks.

Miscellany:
The boats at Epcot, both on the lagoon and crusing EP-YC/BC-BW-SWAN/Dolphin-DHS, are Crusiers,
and thus can handle wheelchairs and ECV'sm unless the water lever is too low.

The boats at resorts such as POR-POFW-SSR-OKW and at Downtown Disney are Pontoon Boats and
also handle chairs and ECV's, based upon water levels. This applies to firework cruises.

The rental boats at various marinas include pontoons, individual watercraft, and sailboats. Only
the pontoons hae ready access for chairs and ECV's without collapsing or man-handling.

Strollers/Wheelchairs, ECV's:
Additionally for all Motor Launches, strollers must be folded prior to boarding and ECVs cannot be
accommodated on Motor Launches under any circumstances. Cruisers do accommodate ECV's unless
the lake water level is too low.

I know it was a few years ago but I did take an ECV on boat from FW to MK a number of times that week and most trips it also stopped at WL. from what a couple of skippers said there had been a numbers days just before my stay where they had not been able to take the EVCs because of water level

I had no idea water level could affect the ability to take the ECV on the boat. Sooooooo what are our options if we get to the marina and they say they can't take it? Rusty can you advise?

the captains ask the other passengers to stand on the other side of the boat to get the level right for the scooter...I've done that! its fun to see everyone try to cram onto one side!:lmao:

ummm, so if i am interpreting this correctly, you cannot get to MK (or anywhere else) with an ECV by boat, since only cruisers can take an ECV........ you would have to get to WL to get one?:confused3

Yes, you absolutely 'can' take the large boat to MK with an ECV! It's only the smaller boats (launches) that cannot accommodate the ECV's.

I don't know if the boat is called a cruiser or a launch, but I have taken the large green flag boat that runs directly between Fort Wilderness and Magic Kingdom many, many times with my ECV. Last time was Oct. 2014.
:boat:
I guess that I have always been lucky as far as water level goes. Never had a problem. It always amazes me how the boat crew get tied up so close to the dock and so even. It's easy to just drive onboard.

If the weather is cold, the boat ride will be too. There are seats inside, though, so that helps.
