For our first day I'd like to take the boat from POFQ to DS, we are staying at ASMo. Can we drive over to POFQ and park there while we head over to DS? I've read about a security checkpoint at POFQ?

"Technically" it is not allowed, but I have seen reports of Guests who have stated they were told it was OK by the Front Desk.

I guess you could tell the Guard at the POFQ parking lot gate you are going to ask the POFQ Front Desk about your plans and see what they say.

That's all you can do- ask, be honest, and be prepared for a no. Sometimes they say yes.

Why not just take the bus from ASMo !! This will just give Disney a reason to start charging to park at ALL the resorts. The parking is for those staying at the resort first and foremost.

Or if the Sassagoula River Cruise is important, take a DAK bus from Movies, catch a POR bus there and take the full cruise to Disney Springs from POR.:)

I agree with PPs here. I've heard about people parking at CR & walking to MK who weren't staying there & similar stories. But the more people do this, the more motivation Disney will have to begin charging to park. Look at all of the other price increases they've been doing each year. Who's to say that they won't start charging parking fees for the resorts to deter people from doing things like this?

If you really want the experience going to DS on the boat, take the bus to AK & bus to POR & then the boat to DS. Or take the bus from your resort straight to DS & then boat to POFQ & back. :)

The only reason I wanted to drive, is with a 2 yr old, the bus, then boat would probably be too much of a pain. I also didn't realize that if you were staying at a Disney Resort, you weren't allowed to park at other resorts. I had done it years ago (to dine or just look at Christmas decorations) I had planned on eating at POFQ before catching the boat. We may just take the bus from ASMo to DS, I was just trying to add a little more fun to our non-park day :o

I wouldn't think it would be a big pain and I definitely think it's worth it. We usually stay at POR and love the boat rides to DS!

We choose to stay at POR partly because of the boat ride to Disney Springs.

There is perfectly usable bus transportation to DS from All-Star Movies. If the boat ride is that important to you, then you can always opt to stay at POR or POFQ next trip.

The boat ride isn't that much fun and also you could be waiting at POFQ for a boat for awhile as it gets two thirds full at POR the first stop.

You can take a boat at DS from marketplace to the west side if you want a boat trip, there are also cute car boats that go out into the river (would have to pay) at the new Boatshed restaurant, you don't need to eat there.

Taking the bus two and from DS is a bit of a pain, buses are fewer, the trip is unnecessarily long as they take you around the back. The new orange car park at DS is amazing, if you have a car drive there.

What Nherbert said. The boat is not that big. With a two year old why don't you park in the beautiful parking garage at DS and take the boat to POFQ for beneigts.

A short stay to dine or check out a resort is usually allowed(for both Disney Resort Guests and offsite Guests).

Parking at the resort and then leaving the resort for a trip to Disney Springs is "different"-kind of like parking at the Contemporary and walking to Magic Kingdom.:)

I appreciate all the responses and I'm glad I asked first. Our plan is now to drive over to DS, ride the internal boat while we visit there and skip the visit to POFQ altogether
