We are thinking of leaving DHS mid-day or around dinnertime to have a meal at one of the Yacht n Beach Club restaurants and then heading back to DHS to finish out the day.
How much time would the boat ride take? Our trip will be in Sept.

TIA!:)

I'll say its a 10 minute ride once you get on the boat. I don't know how frequently the boats come mid day, so in all probability you will spend more time waiting for the boat than riding the boat.

You could also walk it.

As said, about 10 minutes once on the boat, but budget another 10 minutes waiting. We have been at the Beach Club for the past 10 days and find it easier to walk it.

oh wow! that's less time than I thought!
Totally "do-able"!

Wasn't aware you could walk it, so that's def another option. I guess we will play it by ear, according to how the day is going. If we have enough time and feel like getting off of our feet, we'll take the boat.

Just would like to try the Yacht n Beach Club restaurants and never do it from Epcot bc there are sooo many great food choice in WS. So we figured hitting it on our DHS day might be a fun thing to try.

Thanks for your replies! :thumbsup2

I've filmed this trip a few times and from DHS to S/D, the first stop, is 8 mins 30 sec. and if you get out at S/D and do an average paced walk you'll beat the boat to the Y/B dock.

The walk from Hollywood Studios to S&D is a little less than a mile:

The walk to the ferry is little over .10 of a mile:

The boat ride (as others have said) to S&D is around 10 minutes, but you can easily wait that long for the boat. The walk is aorund 16-20 minutes for most people.

Like any form of Disney transportation, schedule alot of additional wait time. It once took me an hour to get from DHS to BW (yes, it's one more stop) but it took an hour because we had to wait for a 2nd boat as the first boat filled up.

Also, its Florida and afternoon thunderstorms can and do shut down the boat service, (in which case they provide a bus that stops at the Swan, then Dolphin, then Yacht Club, then Beach Club , then Boardwalk.)

We definitely found that it was quicker to walk back to YC from DHS when you factor in the time waiting for the boat and then the actual ride.

Our walk (with two small kids) was exactly 17 minutes. Not bad...and we beat the boat. :goodvibes

We've done that same boat ride a few times, and I would budget 25 minutes one way just to be safe. That is from the time you arrive at the boat dock until you step off the boat at the Yacht Club dock. Then there is a short walk to the resorts, just a few more minutes.

Thanks everyone! We 'll take a vote of the group. I'm sure it will depend on how our legs/feet feel at the time. Of course if the boat is pulling up to the dock (no waiting) we will jump on it. Good to know the approx walk times vs boat travel time. thanks again!

Total time, from pulling away from the Epcot dock to getting to the DHS dock, is about 25 mins. So, it's about 12 mins from DHS to YC/BC. But, if the boat is just leaving the dock, you need to figure on about 15 mins wait time for the next boat.
