Hi all,
For those that may have read other threads of mine, you probably think I'm simple!! but untill I found this site I had never heard of the Boardwalk.(Maybe word hasn't got out in the UK). Is it a hotel or an attraction?, everybody seems to rave about it!

By the way, I am really getting hooked to this site. Keep up the good work.

BOTH!! Well, maybe not exactly an attraction, but definitely more than just a hotel. It is modeled after the Boardwalk in Atlantic City, New Jersey. There is the Boardwalk Inn Resort, but there are also many shops and restaurants. What makes it an attraction is the evening entertainment and carnival games. They also have surrey bikes you can rent. And it's just a pretty place along the water. It's within walking distance to Epcot and you can take the boat to MGM.

There is also a walking path to MGM which is about a 10 minute walk. :D

The Boardwalk is also home to a great bar, Jellyrolls, which is a dueling piano bar. It's a great place to spend an evening or two (or five). The piano players are fantastic, and it's a blast!

If you can, you should stay there sometime. Not only is it delightful & one of the nicer of the deluxe Disney resorts, it's just a short, scenic stroll into Epcot by way of the International Gateway, which leads you straight into the UK pavilion! :smooth:

It is not only the Boardwalk Inn but also the Boardwalk Villas too, a Disney Vacation Club property. We are staying in a studio villa this Oct. We rented it from a member which is a good way to save money and get to experience a deluxe hotel. We also have a view of the Boardwalk so we will see some of the entertainment from the balcony. I love Jellyrolls, the piano bar. I love being a 5 minute walk to the World Showcase. It is great to be able to visit the countries and eat dinner there more often. I love the boat that goes to MGM. A better way to travel than the bus. I am close to Beaches and Cream for icecream and great burgers. It is a gorgous view at night too.
These are some of the reasons people on the board rave about it but there are more!

Thankyou to all of you for taking the time to reply!

We will definately give it a try one evening. I will let you know how we get on when we return.

Is there a cover charge at Jellyrolls? Can you bring your teenagers? Do they serve food at all? When's the best time to go?

Welcome to the DIS, Mrspaha!

There is a $7 cover charge to get into Jellyrolls (and it's worth every penny, as the piano players are fantastic).

Jellyrolls is 21 plus, so you can not bring teenagers into the bar.

They do not serve food in Jellyrolls. Well, just oversalted popcorn so that you'll buy more drinks ;)

The doors open at 7:00, and the piano players start up at 8:00. Usually the first hour or two are relatively quiet, and it picks up around 9:30-10:00 (I bet lots of folks plan on going to Jellyrolls after Illuminations because of it's close proximity to Epcot). I love the first hour because there are usually only a few people in the bar, and the piano players are really chatty. Of course, it's also a blast when the bar is packed, and everyone is singing along and having a great time!
