We are renting DVC points to stay in a Studio Room, and have narrowed our choices down to Boardwalk or Beach Club. We will only have one full day pre-cruise and want to spend it at Epcot, so I know both these hotels are very convenient for that. We stayed at the Beach Club in 2000.

Read reviews on Deb's site and both have mixed reviews. Biggest con on Boardwalk is no dining options in hotel, but I knew that already.

So help me out here -- what's the concensus if you had to choose......Boardwalk or Beach Club?

Are both available? I see you are going in less than 7 months; BCV is usually booked by then.

I own at Beach Club so I'm biased. It's the closest to walk into Epcot; it's an easy walk to the Beach Club marketplace/store.

I stayed at beach club in 2008, and I am staying at Boardwalk in a couple months. So I don't have a direct comparission but I am very excited about staying at BWI. I have hung out on the boardwalk on a couple trips and it is always such a great place to wind the day down.

I have booked 3 times for BCV at the 7 month window once during food and wine.

I like the short walk into Epcot, the nice boat ride to MGM and the pool is the best Disney offers.

I have never stayed at Boardwalk so I really don't have a comparison.

I thought Boardwalk was next door to Beach Club. Is it that much further away from the entrance to Epcot?

Yacht Club is next to Beach Club. Boardwark is "across" the water. Depending on which end of Boardwalk you're in, it's a "longer" walk to the International Gateway in Epcot. That being said, it's still a sub-10 minute walk, probably closer to 5 or 7.

I'm with Pakey on this one. What may have been available a few days ago to members may be booked up since you are less than seven months out. The inventory you see on the Disney website is not what is available to members using points.

they are so close to each other, that it comes down to personal preference.

I like the BCV better b/c I like the pool better.

It is such a quick walk to epcot from either, BWV maybe take you extra 5 min

I don't think its going to make a big difference for one day. They are both nice, both close to Epcot, maybe do BW since you've already stayed at the BC before.

I would be very surprised if BCV is available at less than 7 months out. Chances are better of a villa still being available at BWV because it is a larger resort. That being said, we love both of them. We own at BCV, and tried to buy a contract at BWV, so we are biased to them both. If it is just DH and I, we prefer BWV, if the kids are along, we like to stay at BCV.

Dang, now I'm scared we missed our window. I contacted the girl and told her to book BW. We shall see. We are asking for a studio -- seems most people go for the 1 and 2 bedroom, so we may be in luck!

We stayed at BCV this past August and BWV the previous two years. We (me and DH) kept commenting that for two resorts to be so similar (area, price point, room layout, etc) that we liked BCV sooooo much better. We enjoyed how it was so much more private since it is a seperate building. Not that it will probably matter much for 1 day but I would pick BC.

Actually more people go for a studio or two bedroom villa than the one bedroom villa. The studio is half the price of the one bedroom and the one bedroom only sleeps four at BWV and BCV.

Thank you all for your help! We got the studio at the Boardwalk for the dates we wanted with a garden view.

Any recommendations on places to eat in that area on the night we arrive? We were thinking of going over to Polynesian, but that might be too complicated.

I think you will really like it at BW. DH and I just got back on Monday from a BCV/BWV split stay we both went in thinking we would like BCV better but now we really love them both equally but for different reasons. If you wanted to spend the day by the pool I would say BCV hands down. The pool really was awesome and we loved that you could get burgers etc from Hurricaine Hannahs and not just prepackaged cold sandwiches like they had at luna park. As far as resort and rooms go we much prefered BWV, we felt that the room layout was much better at BWV making the room seem bigger and the views are so much better than those at BCV, I loved having breakfast on our patio overlooking luna park!!!! The walk to EPCOT from BWV is longer but it is still under 10min so I don't really think it makes a difference.

congrats on getting the BWVs - it's our favorite resort (we own at BCV and BWV, and love the BWVs:cloud9:)
i agree that flying fish is very good, but it is expensive. big river has good food in a more casual atmosphere (try to get a table directly on the BW if the weather is nice). ESPN is even more "casual". we don't really care for kouzzina - it was okay, but not great, imho. cape may at the BC has a good seafood buffet. there are some very good restaurants at the swan/dolphin also (btw, restaurant.com has a few listed there if you want to save some $).
or if you have APs, just have dinner in world showcase:)

a suggestion: ask the person you are renting from if you can waitlist for a BW view. it is amazing - waking up to the sun coming up, and watching illuminations from your balcony at night. the points are the same as a pool/garden view, so it would just require a single phone call from her/him.

have a great stay!
