anywhere else???? We are just back after a week at Boardwalk Villas and the resort was as wonderful as the fans on the DIS have said. We were assigned a great studio on the 5th floor - 5063. It was boardwalk view (with a bit of the Epcot ball), close to the elevator, luna park pool, lobby, laundry, fitness center, arcade, shops, and a short walk to Community Hall....just a perfect location. We enjoyed the quick access to Epcot - preferred the short walk over the boat ride. We also walked back from MGM one day and it was a very relaxing walk along the lake.

This was our first DVC trip and I can't wait to go back!

why stay anywhere else?

BCV to use storm-a-long bay
OKW for larger rooms and parking right outside your door.
WLV for close proximity to the MK and Fort Wilderness and that great breakfast buffet at Trail's End
SSR for closeness to DTD and beautiful furnishings.

That is what makes DVC so great. There are wonderful things about each and every DVC resort, just as there are some not so wonderful things about each and every DVC resort. No one resort is "the" only one to stay at.

Thanks for the report. I am a newbie BWV owner and haven't even stayed there yet. We did walk over to "check it out" on our last trip down when we stayed at the BC and I just immediately fell in love with it. BC was fantastic but I dont know what it was about the Boardwalk. Cant wait till our first stay!! Glad you had a great first trip. Thanks again-

Good answer. Plus it does fill up (BWV), once you find you cant get in the week you wanted-you now "want to stay somewhere else".

Arewethereyet - I can't wait to try the different DVC resorts which as you have shown are all special for different reasons - I am so excited after our first trip to BWV! We'll be going to SSR next and I'm looking forward to being so close to Downtown Disney (Ghiradelli sundaes woohoo!). :flower:

Just keep in mind that if you like the feel of BWV with it's interior hallways, etc., then the resorts with exterior hallways, such as OKW and SSR may not be to your liking. We have a stronger preference for outside hallways, as they are usually not as long, meaning not as many people travel past your door. If you keep an open mind, you should be fine. I personally think that a lot of people on this Board read others posts, hated SSR, hated BCV, hated whatever whatever and then they go with pre-conceived notions. A lot of people have mentioned negative things about resorts that I would have never noticed and never thought of and probably would have never cared about. If it isn't obvious to me, then don't point it out to me.

The one thing I am sure of, is if I waited until the last minute to make trip plans and the only resort available was my least favorite, there is no way I would prefer to stay at home.

And one more thing, don't forget that you do get a DVC discount at Ghiradelli, I think it is 10%, used to be a free candy bar with a purchase in the shop, but that has been changed, now it is simply a discount.

So glad your first stay was a good one. We have stayed at BWV twice and both times we had wonderful rooms. No complaints from us.

I was there in May and stayed in a studio (#5061). I too thought it was a perfect location. I was only two rooms down from the elevators and the room had a studio bed, as well as a couch, and queen size bed. I was booked for a water/pool view, but wound up with a Boardwalk view over the archway between Muscles & Buscles and the Wyland Gallery. I agree I love the Boardwalk.

We all have our different preferences. I think that BWV is the one DVC resort I wouldn't stay at. The biuldings look very nice, but that slide just plain freaks me out.

CaliforniaDreamin,

Our room was preferred view but I don't remember asking for a boardwalk view. It did turn out that way though. Overlooking the pool would have been great too. My DDs 11 and 10 loved the slide.

Rwethereyet,
Thanks for the info. I'll keep an open mind. We'll be going with my husband's mom and dad next year and staying in a SSR 2 bedroom. Any outdoor hallway issues will be far outweighed by having more space. From what I am hearing there are people that love each DVC resort so if we are lucky, I hope we get to try each one over the years!

Thanks,
Dawna

Funny, but as a DVC'er, there isn't any DVC resort I wouldn't be willing to try at least once.

Wow, you would not stay at a resort based solely on a pool slide. Have you ever stayed at this resort? You have to explore DVC resorts a little more. They all offer a lot more than just a pool slide.

I think BWV is certainly nice, but it's not the end-all for us. We enjoy trying different resorts, but if that starts to become a problem in the future with the growing DVC population, we'll most certainly be extremely happy and content to stay soley at OKW. We just prefer the ambiance of that resort a little more. I just think everyone has different opinions of what they like or prefer. The style of the hotel/resort, the grounds, amenities, etc. Many varying factors appeal to Members differently and this is why it's so terrific that DVC has so much variety to offer.
Glad u enjoyed your stay at BWV Dawna. :cool1:
