I've been reading that the elevators in the Boardwalk Villas are few and it's a long walk to get to them. Is this true?

There is only one bank of elevators at the BWV. They are near the lobby, so the walk depends on where your room is relative to the lobby. There are 3 elevators.

I've seen some pictures of rooms at the Boardwalk Inn and Boardwalk Villas and it looks like the beds at the Boardwalk Inn are much nicer than Boardwalk Villas. True?

DVC members can't use points at the BWI, so you won't get many members that can make that comparison.

The elevators are at #9 on this map:

Depends on which style you like.

As far as comfort, I've stayed at both and didn't notice a difference.

When Disney rehabbed the BWI, the BC and the YC they got very nice plush mattresses, nice sheets and duvets instead of a bed spread. So yes I think they are nicer.

Duvets look nice, but when there isn't a blanket under them, you have to sleep either with just the top sheet or the top sheet and duvet. And most of the time they are just so heavy and too warm.

Give me a clunky bedspread with a blanket under it instead of the cutesy duvet and no blanket.

I dont consider the elevators too far from my room, I consider my room too far from the elevators! We usually take the stairwells down but elevators up since we come in through the lobby when we return from the parks.

We had a blanket at the Yacht under the duvet. :confused3 I like the duvets because they are cleaner than a bedspread.

WHOA!!! The furnishings at Boardwalk Inn are REALLY nice!!! I hope the Villas get an update soon...

The villas were updated recently. It's just that what DVC does when it updates and what the resorts do, are not the same.

We stay at a deluxe resort on the weekends and use DVC during the week. While I love the roominess of a one bedroom or two bedroom villa, I don't feel the bedding is as nice at DVC versus the deluxe resorts.

Only if they clean them more frequently and I doubt they are changed between guest any more than bedspreads.

Like Sammie said, they already did that. The photos you are looking at is the complete renovation of the BWV that they completed a little over a year ago. It will be a long time before they do another. And a complete renovatin won't be a complete change of the villa, just reusing the furniture (maybe repaint/recover), new linens, paint. But it will still look basically the same.

The advantage to duvets (and one reason many hotels are going that direction) is that the covers are easy to remove and launder. Most hotels will replace the duvet cover between guests. Generally, this isn't true for bedspreads.

I don't much care---I'm not the sort to get squicked out by this sort of thing---but it matters to some people.

As for elevators---my last stay was at the far end of the second-to-last wing, on the top floor. I did not find the walk to be burdensome. As others have said, I used my "local" stairwell to get down, and the elevators to get up.

We were at the BWV 6/25-7/1 and got room #5069. It was perfect as it was
only 3 doors down from the elevator and a value view 1 b/r. The best part was we checked in Sunday AM @9:00 am and the room was ready :wizard:
