Good morning! Anyone that has stayed in a Boardwalk Villas Studio recently: can you confirm what kind of coffee maker is in the room? And, are there filters included? I'm trying to decide if we will need to bring coffee and filters for our stay in August.

They are doing refurbs, so it depends. At Boulder Ridge which is finishing up their refurbs they put in Keurig Duo coffee makers that allow you to use Keurig pods or brew a regular pot. I think it uses a cone style filter for the pot side. They do not include filters, just some of the packaged coffee that comes in a kind of giant tea bag.

I was in a 1-bed last month at BWV and it had a coffee maker with a cone filter, which seemed odd. Generally, all DVC have the normal basket-filter coffee makers.

We were in a BRV 2BR pre-refurb that had the Cuisinart Stay coffee maker that uses #4 cone filters. According to many, these were an aberration, but clearly there are some out there. Possibly being rotated in as older units give up the ghost. We keep both flat bottom and cone filters in our Owners Locker just in case.

Our BWV 1BR at the end of last month had the normal drip coffee pot that took flat bottom filters. However, reading posts above and in recent past months, it sounds like DVC coffee makers are in transition from the pots requiring flat bottom filters to the dual pots that use cone-shaped filters. I would bring both - in fact we do have both kinds in our Owners Locker because we stay in other timeshares that use one or the other.

FYI you will be provided filter packs of Joffrey's coffee, like a giant tea bag as @kanerf aptly describes them! They'll be usable in whatever coffee pot is in your studio, and Housekeeping will provide extras if you ask for them. So if Joffrey's is acceptable to you, you don't need to bring coffee or filters. We prefer our own brand of coffee, so we bring that.

I'm going to keep both for now. The Keurig Duo uses a flat bottom filter, but I'm not running the risk of getting a Cuisinart when staying at a non-refurb'ed resort.

Was at Boardwalk 1-bedroom villas in Feb, June, September, and December - all 4 times I had the flat bottom basket filter drip coffee machines.

I always bring paper filters at DVC - I've run into the cone-types a few times at other resorts, and just wedge the flat bottom paper filters in there - they still work fine.
