Boardwalk Villas being repaired....so?

Hey,

While staying at Old Key West we pool hopped over to the Boardwalk carnival pool! We noticed that practically ALL the room were covered in scalfolding?!?! My parents and I had an arguement over whether people were staying in these rooms, which I said of course, since that would be so many closed rooms. I was wondering, do the people staying in these rooms with a few of the scalfolding and whatever cloth covers the balcony's get a discount in rate/points ? It must be really annoying to get in one of these rooms?

I believe those rooms are not available but the rooms across from them are. A recent poster said he didn't hear any noise from the work and his room was right across from the rehab work.

Just confirming that the rooms covered by scaffolding are empty. That's part of the reason BWV has limited availability this summer/fall. You are right! It is a lot of rooms to be "out of service". Hope they finish up soon!

My husband is a contractor and could not believe the shape the siding on BWV is for only being 6 years old. If you are in the courtyard in front of the lobby (facing the boat dock) and are going into the arcade/pool area, all the wood there is rotting at the top. They really need to infest in some better material or better workmanship or this will be constant.

I attended the BWV annual meeting in 12/2000 and they said the work was being done due to a construction defect at no cost to the members. I thought I heard somewhere that the construction company went bankrupt (wonder why....?), so I don't know who is actually paying for it.

We were there last week and the rooms that are being rehabbed are not occupied. We were not bothered by any noise at all.

Being a contractor, Disney has probably went back against the contractors insurance company. Most jobs require that the contractors supply insurance requirements that will cover this. If not a lawsuit is the next option.
