Boardwalk Views

Something has been bugging me and I hope to get some clarification. A couple weeks ago I booked a 2 br at BWV for our "Pre-cruise" stay in January. MS asked me which view I wanted and worded it "Boardwalk or Preferred view". I took the Preferred as DD and DM are coming and I think they will appreciate the nicer view. After speaking to MS I began to think about it and looked in my vacation planner where it listed "Standard and Preferred" as the view options. This seems to be different from how MS offerred it to me. Have never stayed at BWV and am wondering if I made the right choice here or not. Maybe I'm overthinking this thing to death, but I would love a view of the boardwalk, and from what MS said it sounds like I may not get this.

Sorry this is long and rambling but I wondering if I made the right choice. Ideally I would love a view of the boardwalk, though I understand that is a crapshoot based on arrival, but did I give myself the best chance to get this?

Or, am I totally out of whack here and there are no 2 b/r with a view of the boardwalk?

BWV vets, I ask for your guidance!!

There are now two categories of Preferred view at the BWV. Both cost the same number of points.

PV - Pool/Garden. Sounds like this is what you have. Your view will be of one of the pools or the canal. About 60% of the BWV rooms fall within this category.

PV -Boardwalk view. These rooms overlook the Boardwalk and Crescent Lake. Only about 20% of the BWV rooms have this view. Booking this category is the only way to get a guaranteed Boardwalk view. Because so many people wanted this view, it was made into a separate booking category to minimize the problems at the front desk when people didn't get their request. You can't get it anymore by making a request. You have to specifically reserve this category.

If you really want the BW view, call MS back and see if you can change your reservatrion to the PV-BW category. Perhaps there is still availability.

Best wishes -

Good choice! You will love it! We like it down at the end of the hall - you look back across the lake, see the whole YC/BC, Spaceship Earth and the fireworks over ESPN. SOme say you can now see the high WIshes fireworks also!

Not all BW view rooms can see Epcot. We had a BW view, but we sort of overlooked the courtyard and could see a little bit of the Boardwalk. We were also on the 2 floor right above the art gallery, so we had a "porthole" to look out of. We still thoroughly enjoyed this view.

Was that actually booked as a BW view room? I thought the rooms over the art gallery that overlook the "village green" were preferred view/garden or pool rather than BW. Obviously it would cost PV points in either case.

Gee, someone posted that the courtyard view (like above the art gallery) was actually a PReferred View instead of BW view. I was going to request a 'preferred view' ressie to be in that Courtyard, thinking it might get me a partial BW and a bigger balcony.

Can anybody clarify this?

For my BW view ressie, I was thinking I'd ask for a room on an upper floor at the far (Dance Hall) end. (I don't mind the long walk at all)...Would that pretty much assure me of a regular (not walled) balcony? I will be solo and I think I'd like to spend a lot of time sitting on my balcony sucking up the view of the lake and YCBC and maybe even the top of SE in the distance. What say you, keepers of the views?

I suspect the Village Green rooms are "movable inventory" i.e. if they are overbooked on BW Views (or BW View rooms go out of service, etc), they use the Village Green as Boardwalk. If they aren't overbooked on BW Views, its preferred view. The only people who would be the wiser about this are those of us who obsess here.

Our first stay as BWV owners was in a studio on the top level, over Muscles and Bustles. It was incredible. But, it was a preferred room. I asked when we were given the room if it was a BW view. The CM said that 'technically it wasn't considered a BW view, but you could see the BW from it.' We saw both IllumiNations (higher up ones) and Wishes off in the distance.

Not sure what they are doing with village green. If it is BW view then are other potential ways of getting a BW view elsewhere. All the 2BRS over the boardwalk sit over the Big River Grill and where the DVC office used to be. Thus, if you reserve a 2BR with boardwalk view it will be down there with good Epcot views. Moreover, if reserving 1BR or studio with boardwalk view you can end up in the same area by requesting a "lock-off" unit since all studios and 1BRs over the village green are "dedicated" units.

I was not aware that MS overbooked those views.

They don't....but things happen. Rooms go unexpectedly out of service. People pitch fits in the lobby and CMs capitulate (though I don't think that happens often with the BW View - the capitulate, I know the fits happen). We all know the drill.

And our 2 bedroom BW View was directly over the Screen Door. It was a nice view, but fireworks were blocked by ESPN.

Our room was booked as a BW view--we were on a waitlist, and it was a studio. We could see the BW, but we weren't directly "on" the boardwalk. Just like at many places-water view is water view if you see water, even if it is only from the corner of the balcony--It's all semantics. But it doesn't matter--that view or an entire BW view would have been the same points.

It was actually quite nice, our balcony was "private"

Here is looking out from the left side of our balcony, and the second shows the location (to the right of DD's head)
