Can you tell me what the standard views are?
I know that Epcot view is preferred, what about pool view?
We stay at OKW all the time and are thinking about BW for our Christmas/NYE visit
Thanks

I had a 1 bdrm standard view in May 2004. It was of the canal that the Boardwalk bridge goes over. We were on the 2nd floor and had a nice tree in front for shade on our balcony and a duck family in the bushes below.

There are actually 3 views at the BW.

Preferred View -

Guaranteed Boardwalk view

and

Standard View.

If you want the boardwalk view you must ask for it. The other Preferred view would be the pool view. The boardwalk view and the pool view is the same number of points which are listed under "preferred view"

The boardwalk view is great, we just got back from 3 days there and I could have stayed there all day. The boardwalk is kinda quiet during the day but at night the pace picks up. We could see illuminations from our balcony.

Enjoy your stay.

Boardwalk view is of what you would expect.. The Boardwalk...

Standard view is generally a view of the parking lot and entrance into the hotel...

Preferred view is everything else... Pools, canals, gardens, etc....

I want to give you caution on BW view - if anyone in your party does not sleep like a rock BWV may not be so preferred. It is not Disney's fault but we stayed BWV and the drunks outside of the Brewery were so loud and obnoxious it was awful. Disney security did make them leave but they came back out

Because of this I will never get another BWV - just something to watch out for :cool1:

Had BW view had no problem with noice.

If you look at this picture, the area that is yellow is the Boardwalk. BW View rooms over look this and have Epcot views - Spaceship Earth - and also look across the lake at the Y&BC. We found the noise here to be noticable, but not disturbing, however, I can see where a large party of drunks could make it disturbing.

Standard view rooms start at the lobby and all face the BW Inn moving forward along the drive back to the tennis courts. There may be a few "random" standard views left that don't face the drive - some people have reported rooms behind the Keister Coaster have been assigned as standard.

That leaves the rest of the resort - the majority of rooms - as Preferred View. Almost all of these involve some view of the canal between the BW and the Swan Dolphin. Some overlook either Luna Park (the theme pool) or the Community Hall and quiet pool. A few exist at the spot marked G on the map - that's the Village Green and the rooms that don't directly face the BW are not generally given out as BW View (I think they will do this if they have problems with BW rooms). Note that the path to Epcot is in the lower left hand corner - the path to MGM heads off from the top right. And the only set of elevators is off the lobby.

... and if you are going for the Christmas to NYE week, the point may be moot. I suspect both Standard view and Boardwalk view are already booked up. That is a very popular time, the resorts sell out and there are not very many of either the Boardwalk or the Standard view. Those with the 11 month window have had several weeks to make ressies. The waitlist may work, but I would have a backup just in case.

Whatever room you get, WDW at Christmas will be awesome!

Thanks to everyone. Once again all my frineds on the boards have hit all the points that I was looking for. We are booked for a standard room and was thinking about going to a preferred view. I am the one in the family who is the light sleeper, and 4 years ago the noise was a concern of mine, one of the reasons we love OKW.
See everyone over Christmas. :Pinkbounc :cool1:
