I'm a new member trying to figure out the ins and outs of Disney ownership. I've been reading alot and would like to someday purchase at BWV. When I look at the points chart, I see standard and preferred. Can someone explain the difference between the 2, and also, if I wanted a Boardwalk view, what category does this fall under?

Is it easy as an owner at BWV to get a Boardwalk view at 11 months out for October's Food and Wine Fest.?

Thanks in advance...

Joyce

There are actually three booking categories: Boardwalk, Preferred, and Standard. Boardwalk (~20% of the rooms) includes a view of the Boardwalk and Crescent lake. Preferred (~60% of the rooms) includes a view of either the pool, water, or garden area. Standard (~20% of the rooms) is everything else. Boardwalk and Standard view rooms get booked up first.

Many owners call day by day for both Boardwalk View and Standard View for Food and Wine. That means if you have a seven day trip starting October 11th, you call on November 12th, call again on the 13, call again on the 14th...etc..

Standard views are less points and those rooms face the entrance and drive. I like all views equally. But, we usually try for standard view to save points. All non standard views are considered preferred. However, due to the demand for Boardwalk views, DVC made it its' own booking category vs. a room view request. As an owner I've been able to book F&W at 11 months every year.

Preferred view is broken down into 2 categories, same number of points - preferred boardwalk view and preferred pool/garden view. Then there is standard view for less points.

Thank you all for your input. I wasn't sure if Boardwalk view was in the preferred category or not, and so now you have cleared that up for me. Thanks again!!

I think this graphic helps show where the various view categories can be found at BWV:

thanks for the map, Granny....I just switched from SSR to BWV for Oct and wasn't sure on the views, either...That helped!:thumbsup2

We booked 3 different rooms (2 studios and a 1-BR) for early October, all standard view. The first one I did day-by-day at the 11 month window, the other 2 I called a week or so later and booked them all in one call.

And...

Granny,

Thanks for the map of the views. :thumbsup2
