Boardwalk View...worth it?

I will preface by saying that this will be our first visit to Boardwalk. Our four trips as DVC members have all been at SSR. Anyway, thought we would try something different in May. I made our studio reservation just last week, and of course felt lucky to get a studio period. I took the preferred view and waitlisted for the boardwalk view. I am starting to wonder if it is worth the extra points. I'm thinking about canceling waitlist. Can anyone convince me that this view is worth it? :goodvibes

The Boardwalk view costs the same number of points as the Preferred View - Pool/Garden. DVC just made the BW view a separate category because so many people were requesting it and ending up disappointed at check in. No need to cancel the waitlist - maybe you willget lucky.

Or were you thinking of not staying at the BWV at all and instead, staying at your home resort, SSR? If so, I think you should give the BWV a try, since you already hae a reservation there.

Best wishes -

P.S. The standard view rooms cost less points than the preferred views (both categories), but they usually book up quickly (before the 7 month window even opens). BWV owners know a bargain when they see one, LOL.

Thanks CarolMN...Guess I am not paying attention. I don't know why I thought there was a point premium for the boardwalk view, was this ever the case? Anyway...maybe we will get lucky! Either way, i'm sure we will have a lovely trip. :sunny:

it depends..........
i love waking up early, sitting on the balcony with my coffee........
watching the slow transformation of the BW: the silent grey of early morning, everything covered in dew....the rumble of laundry carts, hushed talking & laughter.......then the sun ever so slowly making the water blue again, bringing back all the bright colors of the BW, early strollers looking at themselves in the funhouse mirrors, the smell of fresh baked goodies from the bakery, the ferries sounding their horns as the *magic* awakens.

sap i am, but the metamorphisis awes me every time.

I too love the boardwalk view. LSchrow explained it very well. I too like the transformation from watching it so quiet & empty early on to all of the excitement later in the day as everyone returns.

Well, that answered my questions before I posted it. I booked BWV studio preferred view (no standard left) for August a few days ago. I was wondering if that was automatically Boardwalk view, or if we might have views of something else and if so what? Now I know Boardwalk view is a separate category. So when I call on Wednesday to make our ressies for our 2nd week (which will be at OKW), I will ask to be waitlisted for either standard view OR Boardwalk view for our first week at BWV. I want to stay there, but I don't want to spend extra points on a view of the pool, when anything else will do if Boardwalk view isn't available. Any other tips for us newbies to BWV? I'm really looking forward to our stay!

We are kindred spirits! It is good to know that there is another sap just like me sitting on the balcony and just drinking in the magic in the morning. And then there is the fun at night...

One thing to keep in mind is that the preferred pool/garden views are the same number of points as the rooms at BCVs or VWL. The Boardwalk views and standard views are a bargain - not the pool/garden views a bad deal. You can get a better deal at OKW or SSR, but won't be walking to Epcot or MGM (if that is the lure of the Epcot Area resorts to you - and it is to a lot of us).

LSchrow,
you summed it up perfectly.

okay, since it looks like no one else is going to do it ;)

strolling (NO striding or power walking allowed lol) back from EPCOT, the smile still on your face.....
passing the sword eater, the laughing crowd around him oohing and aahing...the sound of televisions and gatherings coming from ESPN, the aroma of delicious italian food wafting from spoodles...
grabbing a table at Big River, reminiscing with your honey...
taking the grand stairway and through the lobby, not caring about the extra minutes or steps it takes because you want to savor the beauty and opulance once last time before you sleep...
then going out on your balcony inhaling the same scents, listening to the same sounds....watching as the crowds diminish, the noise fades, the lights are dimmed....
and the smile never left your face.

BW view is total immersion, imho

I called back today when I made our 2nd weeks ressies at OKW and had us waitlisted for Boardwalk View or Standard View for our 1st week. I am hoping for a great view of the Boardwalk, it will be a marvelous way to spend our anniversary.

Gee, LSchrow,
Where have you been all my life. I am not alone!

& i'm soooo glad to hear there are others that feel that way about the BW. DH & kids just shake their heads ("there she goes again" lol). BUT they've all admitted that watching my reactions is one of their fav things to do.....

now, let me know that i'm not the only one whose heart skips a beat everytime they see the BW entrance (not counting in dreams ;) )

Thanks, Tviv

The chances are pretty good for that time (relative to other times), but you may have to use the waitlist for at least some of the days. Call day by day as soon as the 7 month window opens for the best chance.

Best wishes -

How is it booking that scary clown view these days?
Is it popular enough yet to warrant it's own view category? :scared1:
