We have a Boardwalk view studio during this year's upcoming Food & Wine for 10 nights, and are hoping to get a room with an unobstructed view. Some of the rooms have that solid wall, and you can only see the Boardwalk while standing. Is there a way to request that?

I think you mean you want to avoid the ones with the solid walls. The best request to make is for a room in the Crest o' the Wave section where there are no rooms with wooden type barrier balconies, but make sure you also request higher floor (it is that section that has one studio on the ground, boardwalk level that should be avoided.

What a great time to have a Boardwalk view! The place is really hopping during F&W.

Honestly, even the slatted views aren't great sitting down - the slats are very thick and obscure most of the view. If we want to people watch - regardless of the balcony type, we always stand up.

I have my morning coffee out on that balcony - both types - every day when we vacation (and we almost always have a BW View). And I sit. And I've decided long ago I'm not sitting out there for the view.

We were on 4th floor by Crest of the Wave in a studio in summer of 2014 and it was one of the best views we have ever had. It made the long walk from the elevator worth it (we were, if I remember, the 3rd room from the end of the hall).
