What is the fastest way to travel from Boardwalk to the Magic Kingdom? I read some threads that say it is far faster to take the bus than to walk through Epcot. I wonder though if it is possible to drive from the Boardwalk parking lot to the Epcot parking lot and hop on the monorail to MK? That would have to be a short drive. Would you need a park hopper to do that?

No, you would not need a park hopper to board the monorail at Epcot. The monorail entrance is outside of the park entrance. But you would need a park hopper to enter at the international gateway entrance to walk through Epcot to get to the monorail and then enter at Magic Kingdom.

The monorail ride from EPCOT to the TTC is about 15 minutes and then you'll have to transfer at the TTC and take another Monorail to the Magic Kingdom.

If you have a car already, then you might as well just drive to TTC and take the ferry or monorail from there. If a ferry is boarding when you arrive at the TTC, then board the ferry. If you just missed a ferry, then take the monorail. You're not going to save any time going to Epcot to take the monorail. Bus direct from BW to MK would probably be faster than doing the monorail thing too.

The bus might not be the most pleasant way to get there, but cheaper than an Uber. The bus stop at BoardWalk can get pretty busy for MK in the morning. At one time these was a dedicated bus to MK from BW, but don’t know if that’s still the case.

In all our recent stays (including just 2 weeks ago), there was still a dedicated bus BW to MK.

What I meant was sometimes BW would share with Swan & Dolphin AND yacht club AND beach club. It was so annoying.

Monorail is NEVER the fastest way from Epcot to MK
You have to transfer monorails to do this.
Bus will beat it 10 times out of 10.
If you are driving why not drive to TTC and take the express monorail or ferry?
If you are bus adverse

Not for MK.
For DS yes
For AK, sometimes

Yes, BoardWalk would share the MK bus with those resorts. Enough complaining went on and they recently started the dedicated bus. I’ve heard others say it can still share during the less busy hours. And when returning from MK they will sometimes have you get on a yacht & beach club bus. And I have taken the swan & dolphin bus back if I’ve been waiting a long time for a BW bus and just walk over to BW.

Well I think the Minnie Van might be faster, assuming you don't have a long wait for it to arrive, but $$$.
More fun for sure! 😊 I found the wait time for the Minnie vans longer but definitely worth checking. Uber/Lyft/Minnie van/taxi... all good - quick and easy.
