Hi there! I'm trying to figure out how to get back to the Hollywood Studios parking lot from the Boardwalk after HS closes.

We plan on taking the boat from HS to Boardwalk after fireworks, but HS closes at 9pm and we'd like to explore the Boardwalk until at least 11pm. Can we take the ferry BACK to HS (which would be closed at that point) and grab our car in the parking lot there?

Is there an area to PARK over at Boardwalk? We'll have a rental car, so we thought just driving over from HS and parking at Boardwalk may be an option too? Thanks in advance!

There is a safe, well lit walking path that runs behind BW over to DHS. It takes about 15 to walk it. I've walked it, by myself, many times. Even as late as 2am!!
You might be able to park at BW. Ask at the security booth as you enter BW. You may be told to park in the lot across the street from BW, behind the gas station.

Thank you so much for this info! So we would be able to leave our car in the DHS parking lot even after it closes?

I would just walk. The boats might still be running, but if they aren't, the walk isn't bad. Just remember where you parked at HS :P

Thanks so much, so I am assuming it is ok to park in the DHS lot even after it closes?

Yes, it is. And just because a park closes at a certain time, that doesn't mean they empty it out at that time. The Star Wars fireworks start at the park's posted closing time. Then after that, people need to hit the stores for a last second bit of shopping. Then they are gently coaxed out of the park, which is closed in sections. The Disney folks aren't going to strand you; you will have access to the parking lot because they want you wandering around the BW, having fun and SPENDING money. Enjoy your trip :)

Here is what you do.

Drive to the Boardwalk .... Have your Driving Licence ready for Security Person at the Barrier .

Park in Self Parking ... then walk to the Boardwalk Hotel ( 10 min max ) .... down the steps to The Lake.

Take Free Boat to H.S. & do what you want & After Fireworks ...Take the Boat back to The Boardwalk.

You realize that parking at BW isn't for park access, right? I'm one of those that stay at BW and really resent not being able to get a decent parking spot. Then I see the empty spots later....after Epcot and DHS have closed.
If you want to park at BW, park across the street from the resort.

Bad advice
Boardwalk has cracked down on folks parking who do not have an ADR or reservation, as they should
You will now be turned away
Safe the hassle and park correctly at HS
And before you say it, that folks visiting the Boardwalk won't have an as ADR, correct. Guards will direct those folks to other lots too
They now enforce who can park at the resort

And provided you are not too tired, walking from HS to BWI is faster by quite a lot

Although Disney transportation does not take guests to a park that is emptying out for closing, buses, boats etc. going back for another load it will take guests to that park for the purpose of getting to cars in that park's lot.

It's a nice, safe walk. Plenty of light. You'll get right to the parking/front of HS at the end of the walkway. :)

The Friendship boat skippers have always announced that the last boat to a park will be about an hour after the park's closing so if DHS is closing at 9 and the OP is planning to stay at the BW until 11, there will not be a boat so they will have to walk or take a taxi.

why not take resort bus to HS, boat to BW then use uber after exploring the BW No need for a designated driver that way
