Hi everyone, we are arriving at Boardwalk tomorrow afternoon and will need lunch in a hurry. I noticed that the "Boardwalk to go " kiosk has meatball subs, which are DDs favorite. Is the food there okay? I guess the work "kiosk" is bothering me ;)

It is indeed a kiosk, and I've only had stuff like fried cheese there so I don't know how the sandwiches are. But if you're on the dining plan, be advised you can't use dining credits there.

In my husband's, my granddaughter's, and my opinion, it's one of the better bargains and values at Disney World.

It's a "kiosk" in the sense that it's not anchored down to the Boardwalk. It can be moved. I can't remember if it was strapped down during the hurricane preparedness but I don't think it was. It's a rather large "kiosk". I really would not worry about the quality of the food. Just be warned you have to sit outside to eat the food.

I can only speak to the french fries with cheese -- which were very tasty and piping hot...so please remember to supervise your children. (Sorry, couldn't resist.) :rolleyes1

You can also get sandwiches at the Boardwalk Bakery and pizza from the Boardwalk pizza window. As others mentioned, there's outdoor seating along the Boardwalk.

The best quick lunch on the Boardwalk is by far the Boardwalk Bakery.

First rule of Disney is safety. Food, ride, facilities. So I would not worry I have seen them take temps on food like hotdogs.

BUT the CS options for BW stink. We love BW but the lack of good counter service options is a real failure. Close the brew pub and make some room for CS and it would thrive if it were like the Poly's.

Great reminder. They also do not take credit/debit, as it's CASH only, as they are an outside vendor (not owned by Disney).

We totally agree! We love staying at BWV, but the lack of CS options is very problematic. The Boardwalk Bakery doesn't cut it at times, so other options, besides deep fried food at the kiosk would be great.

Thanks Tiger, from what I understand they won't take KTTW cards for charging either.

The previous post about hot fries with cheese refers to a recently filed lawsuit against Disney by parents who claim their child was seriously burned by hot cheese sauce at Cosmic Ray's, probably not to food safety.

We've eaten there (only because of the lack of other CS options in the area) and it was ok. It's your typical hot dogs & fried food stand. Not horrible, but not something I'd want to have to eat twice in the same trip! It's not always open, be aware of that too. The one night we went it was super busy & there was only one person working in there, and he didn't have enough change to give me. I don't even know where he would have gone to get change as he was alone. It took about 25 min. to get our food, that's how busy he was. He never did go get my change, it was less than $2 so no worries, I considered it his tip! So make sure you don't go with large bills!

You are absolutely correct! They have a sign in the window saying cash only, but we didn't see it, as many people were standing around, so the very first time we purchased something from there, we handed over our card, and they rejected it. We don't carry much cash, even though hubby is a banker - LOL! - so we had to round up a couple of bucks for the kids' snacks.

Now we know to always have a couple of bucks on us, if we go strolling on the Boardwalk, just in case someone wants to purchase something from there.

Great meatball sub and fries. I also recommend the Beach Club marketplace (?), they make to order sandwiches.
